Method for producing an overlap composite material from sheet metal
A method for producing an overlap composite material from sheet metal is described, wherein a first sheet of a first metal and a second sheet of a second metal, which has a lower strength than the first metal, are positioned one above another in an overlapping manner in an edge region, and are then joined by rolling. The first sheet has a wedge-shaped edge in cross-section. The second sheet is to be positioned with its edge on a side surface of the first sheet formed by the wedge-shaped edge. The side surface formed by the wedge-shaped edge of the first sheet has a greater width than the side surface of the edge of the second sheet positioned on the said side surface of the first sheet, and, after positioning, the sheets are joined by rolling.
Wet-area device and method for manufacturing wet-area device
According to one embodiment, a wet-area device includes a main part, a first layer, and a second layer. The first layer is provided on an outer surface of the main part. The second layer is provided on an outer surface of the first layer. A hardness of the second layer is greater than a hardness of the first layer. The first layer includes a first unevenness at a side of the outer surface of the first layer. The first unevenness includes a plurality of recesses and a plurality of protrusions. The second layer includes a second unevenness at a side of an outer surface of the second layer. The second unevenness includes a plurality of recesses and a plurality of protrusions. The second unevenness is arranged along the first unevenness. An average height of the first unevenness is less than an average length of the first unevenness.

Multi component solid solution high-entropy alloys
A multi-material component joined by a high entropy alloy is provided, as well as methods of making a multi-material component by joining dissimilar materials with high entropy alloys.
COATED STEEL MATERIAL
A coated steel material including: a base steel, and a coating layer containing a Zn—Al—Mg alloy layer disposed on a surface of the base steel, wherein the coating layer has a predetermined chemical composition, and, in a backscattered electron image of the Zn—Al—Mg alloy layer that is obtained at a time of observing the surface of the Zn—Al—Mg alloy layer after polishing to ½ of the layer thickness, under a scanning electron microscope at a magnification of 100×, Al crystals are present, and the average value of the cumulative circumferential length of the Al crystals is 88 to 195 mm/mm.sup.2.
DIRECTED ENERGY DEPOSITION (DED) REINFORCEMENTS ON BODY STRUCTURES AND VISIBLE SHEET METAL SURFACES
A part includes a sheet metal component having a predefined shape and at least one additively manufactured reinforcement deposited on, metallurgically bonded to, and extending along a surface of the sheet metal component. The at least one additively manufactured reinforcement can be a directed energy deposition (DED) reinforcement rib. Also, the at least one additively manufactured reinforcement can be deposited on the piece of sheet metal before the piece of sheet metal is formed into the predefined shape, or in the alternative, the at least one additively manufactured reinforcement can be deposited on the piece of sheet metal after the piece of sheet metal is formed into the predefined shape.
PVD DEPOSITED TERNARY AND QUATERNARY NITI ALLOYS AND METHODS OF MAKING SAME
Ternary and quaternary shape memory alloys, particularly nickel-titanium based quaternary and quaternary shape memory alloys, are disclosed and made by a method employing physical vapor deposition (PVD), such as by sputtering, of NiTiX, wherein X is a ternary metal constituent. By employing PVD processing, ternary and quaternary NiTi alloy bulk materials may be made in in the as-deposited state such that the configuration and conformation of a desired precursor material, e.g., wires, tubes, planar materials, curvilinear, or as the near finished end product, such as a hypotube for stent manufacture, semilunar for cardiac valves or conical for embolic or caval filters, is formed on a removable deposition substrate in the configuration and conformation of the precursor material or near-finished end product.
