MAGNETIC DISK SUBSTRATE AND MAGNETIC DISK USING MAGNETIC DISK SUBSTRATE

A magnetic disk substrate includes an aluminum alloy including one type or two or more types of Fe: 8.5 mass % or less, Mn: 2.5 mass % or less, Ni: 6.5 mass % or less, and Mg: 4.5 mass % or less, a balance being Al and unavoidable impurities, wherein, when f (Hz) is a resonance frequency, ρ (g/cm.sup.3) is a density, and t (mm) is a plate thickness, (f×ρ/t) is 3800 or greater; and a magnetic disk using the magnetic disk substrate.

BULLET PROOF BARRIERS

A method of using an anti-ballistic protection system for protecting an interior space in a building. The ballistic barrier includes a laminated material having a plurality of layers of lightweight, flexible, ballistic resistant material such as woven sheets which are secured together into the laminate using a adhesive, heat weld, or stitching. The ballistic barrier is configured to be in a compact retracted state which can be deployed to provide a protective state to protect against kinetic ballistic projectiles. The system may include an automated control system operably configured to change the state of the ballistic barrier from the retracted state to the protective deployed state, such that upon sensing a threatening event or condition triggers a transition from the retracted state to the deployed protective state such that in the protective state. The ballistic barrier in the deployed state is configured to be resistant to penetration by high-speed ballistic projectiles such as a bullet fired from a gun or a shrapnel from a bomb to protect the interior space.

Method and apparatus for controlling thickness of glass sheet

A system includes an overflow distributor (200) including a weir (245, 247). The system further includes a thermal exchange unit positioned in proximity to the weir. The thermal exchange unit (300) includes a tubular focusing member (310) and a thermal member (330) disposed at least partially within a lumen of the focusing member. The focusing member extends distally beyond a distal end of the thermal member by a distance It. In an embodiment the thermal exchange unit comprises several focusing members and thermal members to control a thermal profile of a glass stream flowing over the weir, particularly of a portion of the glass stream in contact with the weir.

Display device and electronic device having same

An example display device includes a display element having at least one portion which can be changed into a curved shape; and a flexible window member stacked onto the display element, wherein the thickness of a portion of the window member is less than that of the other portions.

An optical element is provided which comprises a plurality of fluorophores disposed in a medium. The fluorophores have a quantum yield greater than 50% and an absorption spectrum with a maximum intensity at wavelengths less than 400 nm, and emit a spectrum of light having a maximum intensity at wavelengths within the range of 400 nm to 1200 nm. The optical element is at least partially transparent over the visible region of the spectrum. The optical element is especially useful as a window or other optical component of a greenhouse structure.

Thermoformed cover glass for an electronic device

Glass articles and methods for producing glass articles for a portable electronic device are disclosed. Properties of the glass articles, such as cover members, are improved through chemical strengthening, thermoforming, or a combination thereof. The glass articles may include barrier layers to prevent diffusion of ions between glass layers of the glass article, internal compressive stress regions, or a combination thereof.
