ASYMMETRIC COMPOSITE MEMBRANES AND HYDROPHILICITIZED MICROPOROUS SHEETS OF POLYOLEFIN USED IN THEIR PREPARATION
Composite membranes having a film of poly(ethenol) (polyvinyl alcohol; PVA) adhered to a microporous sheet of polyolefin are disclosed. The microporous sheet is made hydrophilic by grafting of the polyolefin, e.g. poly(ethylene), with a preformed polymer before adherence of the film of PVA. The composite membranes are chlorine tolerant with high levels of protein rejection making them particularly suitable for use in the extraction or recovery of water from feed streams in the beverage and food industries, including dairy.
TRANSPIRATIONAL COOLING PANEL
A transpirational cooling panel comprises a porous ceramic matrix composite layer and a porous high-temperature fabric layer. A machined ceramic fiber batting is located between the porous ceramic matrix composite layer and the porous high-temperature fabric layer. A ceramic stitching joins the porous ceramic matrix composite layer and the porous high-temperature fabric layer through the machined ceramic fiber batting.
COATED WOVEN FABRIC FOR PROTECTIVE CLOTHING
A coated woven fabric including an impregnated woven structure having a woven structure of plain or twill woven yarns of twisted aramid fibers, wherein the impregnated woven structure is impregnated with an organofluorine compound and the fibers have a linear density of 350 to 1000 dtex and a coating layer provided on at least one side of the impregnated woven structure.
LAMINATED SHOWER CURTAINS
Laminated shower curtains are disclosed having an antimicrobial pre-treated fabric layer comprising a first antimicrobial agent, and an antimicrobial liquid impermeable film layer bonded to the antimicrobial pre-treated fabric layer comprising a polymeric material and a second antimicrobial agent. The antimicrobial pre-treated fabric layer and the antimicrobial pre-treated fabric layer of the laminated shower curtains may be individually produced before being bonded together.
Bonding of composite materials
Peel ply for surface preparation and a method of surface preparation prior to adhesive bonding. A resin-rich peel ply is applied onto a curable, resin-based composite substrate, followed by co-curing. After co-curing, the composite substrate is fully cured but the matrix resin in the peel ply remains partially cured. When the peel ply is removed, a roughened, bondable surface with chemically-active functional groups is revealed. The composite substrate with the chemically-active, bondable surface may be bonded to another composite substrate to form a covalently-bonded structure.
FILMS AND BAGS HAVING LOW-FORCE EXTENSION PATTERNS
A thermoplastic film which exhibits elastic-like behavior along at least one axis when stretched or elongated and then released. The thermoplastic film comprises a plurality of raised rib-like elements extending in a direction perpendicular to a main surface of the thermoplastic film. The thermoplastic film further includes a plurality of web areas positioned about the plurality of raised rib-like elements. The plurality of raised rib-like elements and plurality of web areas are arranged in a complex pattern. The complex pattern provides visual and tactile cues as the films are stretched or elongated. The complex pattern can cause the thermoplastic film to have a low force extension.
FILMS AND BAGS WITH BILLOW POCKETS FOR CAPTURING LIQUIDS
A multiple-ply thermoplastic film which exhibits elastic-like behavior along at least one axis when stretched or elongated and then released. The complex pattern, when stretched or elongated and then released, can cause areas of billowing and delamination between plies of the multiple-ply thermoplastic film. The resulting billowed and delaminated areas form billow pockets for capturing liquids that can capture liquids when one of the plies is punctured.
ADHESIVE AND METHOD OF BONDING TO RIGID SUBSTRATES
An adhesive and method for injection or compression bonding, where the adhesive is based on a grafted polypropylene resin and at least one of maleimide compound, phenolic resin, blocked isocyanate, functionalized silane, or an epoxy resin.
METHOD FOR THE PRODUCTION OF CURVED FURNITURE COMPONENTS AND COMPONENT THUS OBTAINABLE
The method for the production of curved furniture components comprises: an overlapping step of a first panel of wooden, plastic or metal material, of at least one intermediate separating layer and of a second panel of wooden, plastic or metal material for obtaining a flat semi-finished product having a perimeter edge; an interposition step of a polyurethane type adhesive between the intermediate layer and the first panel and second panel by hot dispensing of said adhesive on the surfaces of the first and the second panels which are adapted to be associated with the intermediate layer or by hot dispensing of the adhesive on the surfaces of the intermediate layer which are adapted to be associated with said first panel and second panel; a cold shaping step of the semi-finished product for obtaining a curved component; and a spraying step of a water-based auxiliary substance between the intermediate layer and at least one of the first panel and the second panel, subsequent to the interposition of the adhesive.
