Provided is a method of manufacturing a metal catalyst support including: transferring a plate member of the same size along a transfer unit; aligning the plate member so that a front portion of the plate member is located at a start point when the plate member reaches a set position; forming a corrugated plate by alternately forming a first corrugated portion and a second corrugated portion on the plate member which is aligned at the start point; and laminating the fabricated corrugated plates and the flat plates alternately in a case.

LASER JOINING OF CMC STACKS
20170268344 · 2017-09-21 ·

A method of manufacturing a gas turbine engine component (10) and the component so formed. The method includes: stacking a plurality of CMC layers (16) along a metal core (30) to form a stack of disconnected CMC layers, wherein adjacent edge faces (46) of the layers define a surface (44); additively depositing ceramic material (14) to only selected portions of the surface (44) to bond together at least some of the layers at their respective edge faces; and selecting locations for the depositing of the ceramic material to achieve a predetermined mechanical characteristic of the resulting component.

Resin joined body and method for manufacturing same

A method for producing a resin joined body in which a specific region L1 of a welding portion of a second resin member (21) is provided to form a low-laser-light-transmissible portion, and the low-laser-light-transmissible portion has a laser light transmissibility lower than that of a region of the welding portion other than the specific region L1. Welding is carried out so that a portion between points S2 and F2, serving as a weld overlap portion (112), is present in the specific region L1 forming the low-laser-light-transmissible portion. Also disclosed is a resin joined body.

Methods to dismantle hermetically sealed chambers

Embodiments generally relate to apparatus and methods for dismantling a hermetically sealed chamber. In one embodiment, an apparatus facilitating the opening of a hermetically sealed chamber in a device comprises a fixture configured to hold the device, and a system configured to create sufficient tensile or shear stress at a bond interface of the seal to open the seal under controlled conditions. In one embodiment, a method for opening a hermetic seal between first and second elements forming a chamber in a microfluidic chip comprises using a release technique creating sufficient tensile or shear stress at a bond interface of the seal to open the seal under controlled conditions. The release technique comprises introducing a tool to the vicinity of the interface without any contact between the tool and any material within the chamber. The breaking of the seal results in the complete separation of the first and second elements.

A removable fragrance sampler is disclosed in which the sampler comprises a bottom ply having an upper surface and a lower surface with the lower surface having a layer of re-positionable pressure sensitive adhesive and a top ply having a sample material therein, the top ply being attached to the upper surface of the bottom ply, and the bottom ply being larger than the top ply.

METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR FORMING COMPRESSION-BONDING PORTION TO CONTINUOUS BODY OF WEB MEMBER WITH FIBER BUNDLE
20170258288 · 2017-09-14 ·

A method for forming compression-bonding portions in a continuous body including a fiber bundle while conveying the continuous body includes: rotating a rotator to convey the continuous body; compressing a target part of each of the compression-bonding portions in the continuous body using a first compression-bonding apparatus and the rotator to form the compression-bonding portions of a first stage; and further compressing each of the compression-bonding portions of the first stage using a second compression-bonding apparatus and the rotator to form the compression-bonding portions of a second stage. At least one of the compression-bonding portions is positioned between the first compression-bonding apparatus and the second compression-bonding apparatus in the direction of rotation of the rotator when the second compression-bonding apparatus compresses the compression-bonding portion of the first stage.

METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR FORMING COMPRESSION-BONDING PORTION TO CONTINUOUS BODY OF WEB MEMBER WITH FIBER BUNDLE
20170258289 · 2017-09-14 ·

A method for forming compression-bonding portions in a continuous body including a fiber bundle while conveying the continuous body includes: rotating a rotator, while holding the continuous body on an outer peripheral surface of the rotator, to convey the continuous body; compressing a target part of each of the compression-bonding portions in the continuous body using a compression-bonding member and the rotator to form the compression-bonding portions; and pressing the continuous body inwardly in a radial direction of the rotator using a pressing member, while avoiding forming the compression-bonding portions in the continuous body, the pressing member being opposed to the outer peripheral surface of the rotator, at a position upstream in the direction of rotation from the compression-bonding member.

FASTENING METHOD FOR COMPONENTS

Methods for fastening or coupling dissimilar materials to each other may include providing a first component with a first through hole and a second component with a second through hole that is at least partly aligned with the first through hole. A mixture including a first material and a second material may be injected into the aligned through holes of the first component and the second component. The mixture of the first material and the second material may expand in the through holes, e.g., due to a chemical reaction, thereby connecting the first component and the second component together.

SEPARATING MEMBRANE WITH IMPROVED ADHESION AND PROCESS FOR OBTAINING IT
20170260757 · 2017-09-14 ·

Separating membrane (10) of plastic material, made up of a bossed and waterproof sheet (100) which is coupled with a permeable base layer (101); the bosses (102) are of the cylindrical type with a double diameter (D1, D2) and have such a shape and arrangement as to feature improved adhesion on both faces (110-111). The invention increases the gripping of the adhesive in order to obtain greater tear strength, on the upper face, and at the same time increases the area of contact with the base layer for a greater resistance to delamination on the lower face. In particular, inside each chamber (103) there is an internal crown (104), which divides it like a necking (D2) into two superimposed compartments (105-6) having the same diameter (D1), wherein the first compartment has a depth (H1) amounting to at least ⅓ of the total (H). The invention also relates to the production process for obtaining said membrane (10).
