Method and apparatus for continuously producing optical panel assemblies

A method of producing an optical panel assembly including the polarizing film in a continuous manner by laminating a polarizing film to a surface of a rectangular-shaped optical panel, is disclosed. The polarizing film is formed by performing a step of subjecting a laminate including a continuous web of a thermoplastic resin substrate and a PVA type resin layer formed on the substrate, to a 2-stage stretching consisting of a preliminary in-air stretching and an in-boric-acid-solution stretching, to reduce a thickness of the PVA type resin layer to 10 μm or less, and a step of causing a dichroic material to be absorbed in the PVA type resin layer.

A machine for forming insulating panels from pieces includes a moving device with pieces thereon, where every other piece is upside down from a position that is desired and a flipping zone comprising a flipping machine. The flipping machine rotates the upside down pieces 180 degrees and releases the now right side up pieces for further processing.

Aerosol generating articles and methods for manufacturing the same

A sheet-type aerosol generating article includes at least two aerosol generating sheets each having aerosol generating material and an inductively heatable susceptor The inductively heatable susceptor is positioned between the aerosol generating sheets and each of the aerosol generating sheets has an exposed surface. Methods for manufacturing sheet-type aerosol generating articles are also disclosed.

PROCESS FOR MANUFACTURING DECORATIVE MULTILAYER COATINGS METHOD OF USE THEREOF

A process for optimizing the manufacture of decorative multilayer coatings for attachment to surfaces, including using a roll-to-roll printer to print a decorative layer on a surface of a film layer, wherein the decorative layer includes cutting lines and a first indication, using a curable roller coater to coat a layer on the surface above the print layer, using a laminator to laminate a mask over the print layer, using a cutter to cut the print layer into a cut print, and entering the cut print layer into a line printer to read the first indication and print a second indication on the cut print.

Exotensioned structural members with energy-absorbing effects

Structural members having enhanced load bearing capacity per unit mass include a skeleton structure formed from strips of material. Notches may be placed on the strips and a weave of tensile material placed in the notches and woven around the skeleton structure. At least one pair of structural members can be jointed together to provide very strong joints due to a weave patterns of tensile material, such as Kevlar, that distributes stress throughout the structure, preventing stress from concentrating in one area. Methods of manufacturing such structural members include molding material into skeletons of desired cross section using a matrix of molding segments. Total catastrophic failures in composite materials are substantially avoided and the strength to weight ratio of structures can be increased.

Solid electrolytic capacitor including pillow member having edge overlapping recessed portion or through hole, and production method therefor

A solid electrolytic capacitor comprising a capacitor element disposed on an insulating substrate, in which a positive electrode lead-out structure electrically connected to a positive electrode member of the capacitor element comprises a first positive electrode connection member disposed on the insulating substrate, a positive electrode terminal disposed on the insulating substrate, a pillow member configured to electrically connect the positive electrode member to the first positive electrode connection member, and a positive electrode bonding member. The first positive electrode connection member has a recessed portion or a through hole. The positive electrode bonding member partially enters the recessed portion or the through hole, and is in contact with an edge of a bottom surface of the pillow member at a position above the recessed portion or the through hole, or at the nearby position.

A process for in-line extrusion of polymeric coatings onto roofing shingles during manufacturing includes moving a web of shingle substrate material in a downstream direction and extruding a liquefied coating of polymeric material onto at least one surface of the moving web to form a thin film. The liquefied coating may be a molten polymeric material that forms a thin film on a back surface of the shingle material to prevent sticking and eliminate the need for a traditional back dusting with material such as powdered stone. The polymeric film further may be applied to the substrate material in lieu of a saturation coating of asphalt, thus reducing cost and weight while providing a comparable moisture barrier and a lighter more flexible shingle.

METHOD AND SYSTEM OF PRODUCING A PLURALITY OF ANALYTICAL TEST STRIPS

A method of producing a plurality of analytical test strips using a reel-to-reel process, comprising providing at least one continuous first layer web, having disposed on a first side at least one first electrode layer, the first layer web having a first layer edge; continuously disposing at least one continuous spacer layer web onto the first side of the first layer web, wherein the spacer layer web has a spacer layer edge, wherein the disposing is position-controlled in a master-slave fashion by using a position of the first layer edge as a master position and a position of the spacer layer edge as a slave position; and continuously disposing at least one continuous second layer web onto the spacer layer web, the second layer web having disposed on a first side at least one second electrode layer, wherein the second layer web has a second layer edge.
