20230112349 · 2023-04-13 ·

The invention relates to a filtering material permeable to air and impermeable to oral, nasal and/or ocular human liquid aqueous excretions, comprising at least one bundle, referred to as a hydrophobic bundle, of at least two hydrophobic sheets which are superimposed and each formed by porous paper, having a gsm substance less than 30 g/m.sup.2, each hydrophobic sheet being formed by cellulose fibres, referred to as cross-linked cellulose fibres, which are connected to each other by hydrogen bonds and by covalent bonds which are formed with at least one group of cross-linking atoms, characterised in that at least some of the hydroxyls of the cross-linked cellulose fibres which are not engaged in hydrogen bonds and which are accessible to the gases form a covalent bond with an acyl group with a hydrophobic chain.

Ceramic matrix composite component having low density core and method of making

Disclosed is a ceramic matrix component having a fibrous core and a ceramic matrix composite shell surrounding at least a portion of the fibrous core. The ceramic matrix composite shell comprises a fibrous preform. The fibrous core has a greater porosity than the fibrous preform. A method of making the ceramic matrix component is also disclosed.

HIGH TEMPERATURE-HEAT INSULATOR

Disclosed is a heat insulator comprising a substrate comprising of a bulk of silica-based inorganic fiber containing a hydroxyl group; a metallic or ceramic infrared mediator held on at least a part of one surface of the substrate; and a silica cured product holding the infrared mediator on/in the substrate. As the infrared mediator, a metal foil or a ceramic particle may be used. This heat insulator exhibits excellent heat insulating performance in a high temperature range of 600° C. or more, and can be molded into a three-dimensional shape which can be directly mounted to a structure.

METHOD FOR PRODUCING A HOLLOW PROFILE COMPONENT, MOLD TOOL AND HOLLOW PROFILE COMPONENT

A method for producing a channel-shaped hollow profile component from a nonwoven material includes providing first and second nonwoven material layers arranging the first and second nonwoven material layers in a mold tool having first and second mold tool halves and a core body wherein a formation of the first and second nonwoven material layers and the core body is arranged between the first and second mold tool halves, and wherein the core body is arranged between the first and second nonwoven material layers in the formation, and simultaneously forming the first and second nonwoven material layers in the mold tool to form a first nonwoven partial shell and a second nonwoven partial shell.

Systems and techniques to provide a flexible, lightweight material that is also effective at protecting a body from ballistic threats are described. An example composite material described herein is fiber-based, and it includes one or more first regions where the fiber composite material is consolidated, and one or more second regions where the fiber composite material is unconsolidated. Example methods of manufacturing the composite material disclosed herein include using a specialized tool with a heated platen press or an autoclave. The tool may include one or more protrusions and/or cavities that contact a precursor composite material to transform the precursor material into a partially consolidated fiber composite material, which is suitable for use as body armor, among other potential applications for the manufactured composite material.

BUFFER MATERIAL

TURBINE SHROUD WITH ABRADABLE LAYER HAVING DIMPLED FORWARD ZONE
20170370241 · 2017-12-28 ·

Turbine and compressor casing abradable components for turbine engines include abradable surfaces with a zonal system of forward (zone A) and rear or aft sections (zone B) surface features. The zone A surface profile comprises an array pattern of non-directional depression dimples, or upwardly projecting dimples, or both, in the abradable surface. The dimpled forward zone A surface features reduce surface solidity in a controlled manner, to help increase abradability during blade tip rubbing incidents, yet they provide sufficient material to resist incoming hot working fluid erosion of the abradable surface. In addition, the dimples provide generic forward section aerodynamic profiling to the abradable surface, compatible with different blade airfoil-camber profiles. The aft zone B surface features comprise an array pattern of ridges and grooves.

ARMOR
