FIBER REINFORCED METAL COMPOSITE AND APPLICATION THEREOF
A fiber reinforced metal composite having a metal layer and a fiber layer which are arranged in a stack, and adjacent layers are fixed by bonding; the composite has a two-layered or three-layered structure, wherein one layer is closely adhered to another layer and the thickness of the layer is from 0.6 mm0.9 mm. Such structure changes the structure of the existing fiber metal composite characterized by generally having more than three layers, and greatly reduces the thickness of the composite while maintaining good mechanical properties. Also disclosed is an application of fiber reinforced metal composite in the field of luggage case manufacturing, providing two preparation methods for providing fiber reinforced metal case shell with simple and available operations.

A composite of metal and carbon-fiber-reinforced plastic according to the present invention comprising a predetermined metal member, a resin layer positioned at a surface of at least part of the metal member and containing an inorganic filler having a thermal conductivity of 20 W/(m.Math.K) or more, and carbon fiber reinforced plastic positioned on the resin layer and containing a predetermined matrix resin and carbon reinforcing fiber present in the matrix resin, the carbon reinforcing fiber being at least one of pitch-based carbon reinforcing fiber having a thermal conductivity of 180 to 900 W/(m.Math.K) in range or PAN-based carbon reinforcing fiber having a thermal conductivity of 100 to 200 W/(m.Math.K) in range, a content of the inorganic filler in the resin layer being 10 to 45 vol % in range with respect to a total volume of the resin layer, a number density of the inorganic filler present in a region of a width X m from an interface of the resin layer and the carbon fiber reinforced plastic in a direction of the resin layer being 300/mm.sup.2 or more, where X m is an average particle size of the inorganic filler.
PANEL FOR FORMING A FLOOR COVERING
A panel including at least a substrate of thermoplastic material and a top layer with a printed decor and a translucent or transparent wear layer. The substrate has a thickness larger than one half of the thickness of the entire panel, and the substrate at least includes two layers, where the two layers each include thermoplastic material. A first one of the two layers further includes at least 60 percent by weight of filler materials and a second one of the two layers includes less fillers or is not filled, and is situated above the first one of the two layers.
CARPET TILES AND SYSTEMS AND METHODS OF MAKING SAME
A carpet tile having a greige good, an adhesive layer, and a secondary backing material. The greige good has a primary backing component and a plurality of fibers attached to the primary backing component. The adhesive layer has an adhesive composition and a reinforcement material that is at least partially embedded within the adhesive composition. The adhesive layer is applied to a back surface of the primary backing component. The secondary backing material is adhered to the primary backing component by contact with a portion of the adhesive composition that flows through the reinforcement material. The reinforcement material and the secondary backing material are co-laminated onto the adhesive composition.
FILAMENT REINFORCED TAPES USEFUL AS UNDERWATER PIPE WRAP
A member for use in undersea applications comprising a plurality of conduits assembled into a bundle; the bundle being wrapped with a pressure-sensitive tape comprising a backing, a layer of corrosion-resistant yarns on one surface of the backing, and pressure-sensitive adhesive layer that coats the corrosion-resistant yarns and binds them to the backing.
COMPOSITE MATERIAL MANUFACTURING METHOD AND COMPOSITE MATERIAL
An object is to provide a composite material manufacturing method for improving interlayer strength. The present disclosure provides a composite material manufacturing method of laminating a plurality of prepregs (10) formed of a fiber reinforced base material impregnated with an uncured matrix resin and performing hot molding, the method including: using the prepregs (10) each provided with a gap layer (12) that does not contain a resin and is continuous in an in-plane direction and resin layers (11a, 11b) disposed on both surfaces of the gap layer; disposing a plurality of short fibers (13) on facing surfaces of the prepregs (10) that are adjacent to each other; and evacuating the laminated prepregs (10) to degas the gap layer (12) and then performing hot molding.
FILAMENT FASTENER THAT CURES WITH COMPOSITE PART
