Polishing pad and polishing method

To provide a polishing pad capable of sufficiently polishing, in polishing of an object to be polished having at least one of a projection portion and a recessed portion on the surface, a portion near the projection portion or the inner surface of the recessed portion of the surface of the object to be polished. The polishing pad has a piloerection portion (1) in which a plurality of fibers (12) having a length of 2 mm or more are raised on the surface of a base (11), in which the mass of the fibers (12) is 250 g/m.sup.2 or more. The polishing pad is used for polishing an object to be polished (2) containing metal, an alloy, or a metal oxide material and having at least one of a projection portion (21) and a recessed portion (22) on the surface.

Wedge-weldable manufactured composite having synthetic vegetation and impermeable geomembrane

A manufactured composite comprising synthetic turf and impermeable geomembrane is used in a single-layer capping system as the single layer to provide permanent, impermeable and functional aesthetic cover for a job site. During installation of composite pieces at a job site, an edge portion of a tufted section of a second composite piece is overlaid onto an edge untufted section of the first composite piece already laid and anchored over foundation soil to form a reinforced overlapping seam, through which the two composite pieces are physically and permanently joined together. As composite pieces are joined together, the continuity of synthetic grass and the continuity of impermeability are extended and realized over the entire site to form permanent, impermeable and functional aesthetic cover for a job site.

A photovoltaic apparatus is provided including a back sheet and a photovoltaic device disposed over the back sheet. The photovoltaic device includes an array of photovoltaic cells extending in a first direction; and a plurality of serial interconnects having a length that extends in a second direction, wherein each serial interconnect is disposed between and electrically connects consecutive photovoltaic cells of the array. The photovoltaic apparatus further includes a front sheet disposed over the photovoltaic device, the front sheet having a plurality of structures, wherein each structure has one or more edges aligned with one of the serial interconnects.

METHOD FOR MANUFACTURING AN ACOUSTIC ABSORPTION STRUCTURE USING AT LEAST ONE CAUL PLATE, ACOUSTIC ABSORPTION STRUCTURE OBTAINED FROM SAID METHOD AND AIRCRAFT COMPRISING SAID ACOUSTIC ABSORPTION STRUCTURE
20200342843 · 2020-10-29 ·

A method for manufacturing an acoustic absorption structure including an acoustically resistive layer, a cellular structure, a reflective layer and a plurality of acoustic elements positioned in cavities produced in the cellular structure. This method comprises steps of depositing fiber plies on a contact surface of the cellular structure, fitting a flexible jacket which covers a stack composed of the acoustically resistive layer, the cellular structure and the fiber plies, which is tightly linked with the deposition surface all around the stack, consolidating the fiber plies to form the reflective layer and the fixing thereof on the cellular structure, with a caul plate being inserted between the fiber plies and the flexible jacket during the consolidation step.

PIPE LINER AND METHOD OF MAKING AND INSTALLING THE SAME

An eversion liner for lining a pipe includes an impermeable outer portion, inner and outer strength portions inside the impermeable outer portion, and a middle portion including at least one felt layer radially between the inner and outer strength portions. At least one of the inner and outer strength portions is formed from a unitary sheet of strength material that includes parallel chopped strands of fiber. The longitudinal edge margins of the sheet of strength material are positioned in overlapping engagement and joined together by joining structure. The parallel chopped fibers can be oriented transverse to the length of the liner. The joining structure can prevent reduction in a width of the overlapped edge margins as the liner expands during eversion.
