In some embodiments, the composition can also include a boron-containing compound.

Aqueous primer composition for enhanced film formation and method of using the same

A water-based bonding primer composition and a method of applying the same onto a metallic surface prior to adhesive bonding. The bonding primer composition is a water-based dispersion containing water, one or more epoxy resins, one or more curing agents, a silane compound, a low amount of propylene carbonate (PC), and optional additives. The bonding primer composition can form substantially smooth films by spraying, and at the same time, meet environmental regulations and provide high bonding performance.

BONDING OF COMPOSITE MATERIALS

Peel ply for surface preparation and a method of surface preparation prior to adhesive bonding. A resin-rich peel ply is applied onto a curable, resin-based composite substrate, followed by co-curing. After co-curing, the composite substrate is fully cured but the matrix resin in the peel ply remains partially cured. When the peel ply is removed, a roughened, bondable surface with chemically-active functional groups is revealed. The composite substrate with the chemically-active, bondable surface may be bonded to another composite substrate to form a covalently-bonded structure.

Helmets for protection against rifle bullets

A helmet shell is formed having an outer section of fibrous layers, a middle section of fibrous layers and an inner section of fibrous layers. The outer section layers contain high tenacity abrasive fibers in a resin matrix. The middle section layers contain high strength polyolefin fibers and are in the form of woven or knitted fabrics with a resin matrix. The inner section layers contain high strength polyolefin fibers and are in the form of non-woven fabrics with a resin matrix. The helmet is lightweight and resists penetration of rifle bullets.

Blocking/Deblocking Resin Systems for Use as a "Co-Cure-Ply" in the Fabrication of Large-Scale Composite Structure

A method for bonding composite structures which includes providing a first and second composite substrate and coupling a co-cure prepreg tape having chemically protected polymerizable functional groups onto a surface of both the first and second composite substrates. The first and second composite substrates are then cured to the co-cure prepreg tape at a first temperature to form a co-cure prepreg tape portion where the first and second composite substrates are fully cured and the co-cure prepreg tape is partially cured. The co-cure prepreg tape portion of the first composite substrate is then coupled to the co-cure prepreg tape portion of the second composite substrate and a deprotection initiator is applied to facilitate deprotection of the chemically protected polymerizable functional groups and cure the co-cure prepreg tape portion of the first and second composite substrates to form a single covalently bonded composite structure.

The disclosure relates to a process for manufacturing an optical article, including: providing an optical article manufactured by additive manufacturing, the optical article having a first main surface and a second main surface; providing at least one added value film including at least one added value layer; and attaching the at least one added value layer onto at least one of the two main surfaces of the optical article by laminating the at least one added value film onto the at least one main surface.

Single pass carpet-production method and carpets prepared using same
12420539 · 2025-09-23 · ·

A low-weight carpet or carpet tile and process for making the same, wherein the carpet or carpet tile comprises a facecloth having a plurality of face yarns tufted through a primary backing, a low-viscosity polyolefin coating layer applied to the primary backing, a reinforcing scrim layer, and an extruded polyolefin sheet. The top surface and bottom surface of the carpet tile are defined by the facecloth and either the extruded polyolefin sheet or the reinforcing scrim layer, respectively. The entire multi-layer web is then passed through a nip to compress the layers together, and the entire web is chilled before optionally being cut into tiles.
