Heated floor panels with thermally conductive and electrically insulating fabric
A floor panel assembly includes an insulating layer which protects a sheet heater, first and second structural layers, and a honeycomb layer for support. The floor panel assembly allows for heating of the cabin of an aircraft without mechanical damage to the sheet heater.
Ceramic matrix composite airfoil cooling
Ceramic matrix composite airfoils for gas turbine engines are provided. In an exemplary embodiment, an airfoil includes opposite pressure and suction sides extending radially along a span. The pressure and suction sides define an outer surface of the airfoil. The airfoil further includes opposite leading and trailing edges extending radially along the span, the pressure and suction sides extending axially between the leading and trailing edges. The airfoil also includes a filler pack defining the trailing edge; the filler pack comprises a ceramic matrix composite material. Moreover, the airfoil includes a plenum defined within the airfoil for receiving a flow of cooling fluid, and a cooling passage defined within the filler pack for directing the flow of cooling fluid from the plenum to the outer surface of the airfoil. Methods for forming airfoils for gas turbine engines also are provided.
Machinable CMC insert
An assembly comprising a structural component and a sacrificial layer, and method for producing the same. The structural component may comprise silicon carbide fibers within a silicon carbide matrix. The sacrificial layer may be joined to the structural component and may comprising unarranged ceramic fibers, wherein the sacrificial layer may comprise a volume fiber fraction lower than a volume fiber fraction of the structural component.
MANUFACTURING APPARATUS OF DISPLAY DEVICE
A manufacturing apparatus of a display device includes a first jig configured to hold a first member; a second jig located under the first jig and coupled to or separated from the first jig such that the first member is locatable between the first jig and the second jig; fixing parts located at both ends of the second jig and configured to hold a second member between the first member and the second jig, the second jig including a pad; and a stage located under the pad and provided with a groove formed therethrough and having an area smaller than an area of the pad when viewed in a plan view, wherein one portion of the pad, which faces the stage, is configured to be within the groove.
COMPOSITE ARTICLES PROVIDING FLAME RETARDANCY AND NOISE REDUCTION
A thermoplastic composite article comprising a porous core layer and an open cell skin disposed on a first surface of the core layer is described. The composite article comprises a noise reduction coefficient of at least 0.5 as tested by ASTM C423-17 and a flame spread index of less than 25 and a smoke development index of less than 150 as tested by ASTM E84 dated 2009.
Advanced layered bulk ceramics via field assisted sintering technology
Disclosed herein are methods for fabricating layered ceramic materials via field assisted sintering technology. A method includes forming a ceramic green body on a surface of a substrate, and sintering the ceramic green body using a field-assisted sintering process to form a ceramic layer joined to the substrate.
Method for providing hermetic electrical feedthrough
This invention provides methods for processing of platinum metallized high temperature co-fired ceramic (HTCC) components with minimum deleterious reaction between platinum and the glass constituents of the ceramic-glass body. The process comprises co-firing a multilayer laminate green ceramic-glass body with via structures filled with a platinum powder-based material in a reducing atmosphere with a specified level of oxygen partial pressure. The oxygen partial pressure should be maintained above a minimum threshold value for a given temperature level.
SACRIFICIAL FIRE SHIELD FOR SHIELDING AN AIRCRAFT PART
An example sacrificial fire shield for shielding an aircraft part during a fire event includes a fiberglass layer, a ceramic fiber layer including heat-resistant fibers that is positioned on the fiberglass layer. The ceramic fiber layer and the fiberglass layer comprise a stack-up and the stack-up is pre-impregnated with rubber. The sacrificial fire shield also includes a durable outer layer comprising aramid fibers. The durable outer layer is positioned on the ceramic fiber layer to enable press curing into a form factor.
Ceramic Surface Modification Materials
Porous, binderless ceramic surface modification materials are described, and applications of use thereof. The ceramic surface material is in the form of an interconnected network of porous ceramic material on a substrate. The ceramic material may include a metal oxide, a metal hydroxide, and/or hydrates thereof, or a metal carbonate or metal phosphate, on a substrate surface. The substrate may be in the form of a metal or polymer particulate, powder, extrudate, or flakes.
Apparatus for viscous hydrocarbon transportation
A vessel for transporting a material that is solid or semi-solid at ambient temperature, includes a body having an interior surface comprising textured metal, and a superoleophobic coating on the interior surface for inhibiting the material from adhering to the interior surface, the superoleophobic coating including a nanotextured coating disposed on the textured metal and functionalized with a fluorinated compound. The superoleophobic coating facilitates flow of the material along the interior surface.
