POLYMER COATED PAPER AND PAPERBOARD

The present invention relates to a paper or paperboard comprising a polymeric coating, said polymeric coating comprising: a first coating layer attached to the paper or paperboard surface, said first coating layer comprising a blend of: a high density polyethylene (HDPE), medium density polyethylene (MDPE) or linear low density polyethylene (LLDPE), or a mixture thereof, and a low density polyethylene (LDPE); and a second coating layer attached to the first coating layer, said second coating layer consisting essentially of a low density polyethylene (LDPE); wherein the first and second coating layers have a combined grammage of less than 12 g/m.sup.2. The present invention relates to a method for manufacturing a polyethylene (PE) coated paper or paperboard substrate.

VOLUME HOLOGRAM SHEET TO BE EMBEDDED, FORGERY PREVENTION PAPER, AND CARD

An object of the present invention is to provide a thin volume hologram sheet to be embedded sufficiently resistant to a mechanical stress such as a stress including a tensile stress, a shear stress and a compression stress at the time of processing even under a heating condition, a forgery prevention paper and a card using the same. The object is achieved by providing a volume hologram sheet to be embedded comprising a volume hologram layer, and a substrate disposed only on one side surface of the volume hologram layer using an adhesion means, wherein a peeling strength of the volume hologram layer and the substrate is 25 gf/25 mm or more.

Polylactic resin compositions for paperboard coating and paperboard coating processes using the compositions

A polyester blend is made in a reaction of a linear polylactide resin and a thermoplastic epoxy group-containing polymer. The polyester blend is blended with a polyester having a glass transition temperature below 0C to form a polyester blend that is particular useful for making paperboard coatings in a melt extrusion process.

METHOD FOR PRODUCING MICROWAVE-RESISTANT SHEET FOR HEAT-INSULATING FOAMED PAPER CONTAINER

An examination of microwave oven-resistant sheets for heat-insulating foamed paper containers revealed that blisters occur in the containers in the course of microwave oven treatment. That is to say, the present invention addresses the problem of providing a sheet for heat-insulating foamed paper container such that no blisters occur during microwave oven treatment. The present inventors have found that the problem to be solved by the present invention can be solved by a method for producing a sheet for a heat-insulating foamed paper container, wherein an air gap of 150 mm or larger, a drawing speed of 65 m/minute or lower, and a polyethylene resin density of 923 to 930 kg/m.sup.3.
