Wedge-weldable manufactured composite having synthetic vegetation and impermeable geomembrane

A manufactured composite comprising synthetic turf and impermeable geomembrane is used in a single-layer capping system as the single layer to provide permanent, impermeable and functional aesthetic cover for a job site. During installation of composite pieces at a job site, an edge portion of a tufted section of a second composite piece is overlaid onto an edge untufted section of the first composite piece already laid and anchored over foundation soil to form a reinforced overlapping seam, through which the two composite pieces are physically and permanently joined together. As composite pieces are joined together, the continuity of synthetic grass and the continuity of impermeability are extended and realized over the entire site to form permanent, impermeable and functional aesthetic cover for a job site.

The present invention provides a laminate material having a polyester film and a web of polyester fibers cohesively bonded directly thereto, such that portions of the fibers are bonded to the polyester film and portions of the fibers are free from the polyester film. The invention may also include a glass reinforced polymer layer formed on the laminated facer where the polymer of the glass reinforced polymer layer is commingled with the nonwoven of the laminated facer. The laminate may further include a second polymer layer having a thickness joined to the fiber layer and/or a layer of hot melt adhesive applied to the polyester fibers. Also presented is a composite material having a polyester film, a layer of polyester fibers bonded to the second polymer layer; a second polymer layer joined to the polyester film; and a glass reinforced polymer layer formed on the laminated facer, where the polymer of the class reinforced polymer layer is commingled with the nonwoven of the laminated facer.

BI-DIRECTIONALLY ORIENTED MULTILAYER FILM

The present invention relates to a multilayer film comprising: • an inner layer system comprising a first surface and a second surface; • a first skin layer bound to the inner layer system at the first surface of the inner layer system; and • a second skin layer bound to the inner layer system at the second surface of the inner layer system; wherein • at least one or both of the first or the second skin layer(s) is a sealing layer comprising a second ethylene-based polymer being a linear low-density polyethylene (LLDPE) comprising polymeric moieties derived from ethylene and from 1-hexene or 1-octene, having a density of ≥890 and ≤915 kg/m.sup.3, preferably of ≥900 and ≤915 kg/m.sup.3, as determined in accordance with ASTM D792 (2008), preferably wherein the sealing layer comprises ≥70.0 wt % of the second ethylene-based polymer or wherein the sealing layer consists of the second ethylene-based polymer; and/or • at least one or both of the first or the second skin layer(s) comprises ≥50.0 wt %, preferably ≥75.0 wt %, with regard to the total weight of the layer, of a third ethylene-based polymer being a medium-density polyethylene (MDPE) having a density of ≥930 and ≤940 kg/m.sup.3, as determined in accordance with ASTM D792 (2008); and • the inner layer system comprises ≥50.0 wt %, preferably ≥75.0 wt %, with regard to the total weight of the inner layer system, of a first ethylene-based polymer being a medium-density polyethylene (MDPE) having a density of ≥930 and ≤940 kg/m.sup.3, as determined in accordance with ASTM D792 (2008); wherein the multilayer film is a bi-directionally oriented film wherein the orientation in both directions is introduced in the solid state. Such film allows for the production of a sealed package having a sufficiently high sealing strength at reduced sealing temperatures, also referred to as the seal initiation temperature, whilst also allowing for production of mono-material matte films.
