A substrate and a superstrate having a doubly-curved geometry may be assembled with a core disposed therebetween, the core comprising a solar cell array including at least one solar cell. During the lamination process, the plant substantially eliminates cracking of the at least one solar cell of the solar array through controlled and uniform application of lamination pressure and temperature that applies uniform local pressure simultaneously to each cell, resulting in a durable and reliable product. The invention further relates to a plant and/or facility having efficient, effective, and repeatable results relating to such methods.

LAMINATED GLAZING

A laminated glazing for use as a combiner in a head up display comprises first and second glazing panes with at least one adhesive ply and an infrared reflecting film therebetween. Light incident upon the first glazing pane at an angle of incidence of 60 is reflected off the laminated glazing to produce first, second and third reflections, the third reflection being from light reflected from the infrared reflecting film. The laminated glazing further comprises light intensity reducing means between the first and second glazing panes for reducing the intensity of the third reflection. In an aspect, upon directing a beam of electromagnetic radiation having an intensity I.sub.O at 770 nm toward the first pane of glazing material at an angle of incidence of 60, the intensity of the third reflection at a wavelength of 770 nm is less than or equal to 0.185I.sub.O.

Manufacturing of decorative surfaces

A method for manufacturing decorative surfaces includes, in order, the steps of a) inkjet printing an image on a first thermoplastic foil by jetting and UV curing one or more pigmented free radical UV curable inkjet inks on the first thermoplastic foil; b) applying on the inkjet printed image a second thermoplastic foil carrying a layer containing a vinylchloride-vinylacetate-vinylalcohol copolymer with the layer facing the inkjet printed image on the first thermoplastic foil; and c) heat pressing the first and second thermoplastic foils into a decorative laminate; wherein at least one of the first and second thermoplastic foils is transparent, and the one or more pigmented free radical UV curable inkjet inks contain a polymerizable composition having: 30 to 90 wt % of one or more compounds with one ethylenically unsaturated polymerizable group; 10 to 70 wt % of one or more compounds with two ethylenically unsaturated polymerizable groups; and 0 to 10 wt % of one or more compounds with three or more ethylenically unsaturated polymerizable groups.

Method for laminating a laminated pane comprising a functional element with electrically switchable optical properties

A method for producing a laminated pane with a functional element with electrically switchable optical properties, includes creating a first stack of layers including a first pane, a first thermoplastic laminating film, a separating film, a second thermoplastic laminating film, a second pane, laminating the first stack of layers while being heated, taking the first pane with the first thermoplastic laminating film off the second pane with the second thermoplastic laminating film, and the at least one separating film is removed from the stack of layers, providing a functional element having an active layer, placing the functional element into the stack of layers, whereby a second stack of layers is formed, laminating the second stack of layers to form a laminated pane, wherein the separating film is detachable residue-free from the first thermoplastic laminating film and the second thermoplastic laminating film.

FOOTWEAR COMPONENT TOOLING FOR USE WITH MICROWAVE ENERGY

The utilization of heat in the manufacturing of footwear may be accomplished through microwave energy. The microwave energy is conveyed to the footwear components through a microwave transparent window of a tool. The microwave transparent tool window forms as least a portion of a part-contacting surface of the tool. Another surface of the tool is formed from a microwave reflecting material, such as aluminum. The footwear component(s) are exposed to microwave energy while within the tool such that the microwave energy passes through the tool window to cause a dielectric heating of one or more materials within a tool cavity of the tool.
