The mat portion includes multiple interlocking sections that help to maintain the floor covering in a uniform planar shape and provide an aesthetically-pleasing appearance when placed on an underlying surface. The multi-piece arrangement and assembly does not move relative to that surface, yet does not require either a cumbersome installation or removal process.

The primer layer, one or more binder layers, resurfacer layer, and two or more color layers may cure upon application to form a monolithic layer upon the substrate.

Floor Mat with Hidden Base Component

This invention relates to a washable multi-component magnetic floor mat with a hidden base component. The floor mat contains a textile component and a base component. The textile component and the base component are attached to one another by magnetic attraction. The magnetic attraction is provided by incorporation of magnetic particles in both the textile and base components. The textile component is designed to be soiled, washed, and re-used, thereby providing ideal end-use applications in areas such as building entryways. The present invention eliminates the need to wash the base component of the floor mat which results in environmental, cost and labor conservation. Alignment and deployment of the textile component with the base component in an efficient manner is also described herein.

Exemplary methods for installing tile using a reactivatable tile bonding mat is disclosed. The reactivatable tile bonding mat is placed upon a substantially flat surface. Stone, porcelain or ceramic tile is placed and arranged on the reactivatable tile bonding mat in an aesthetically pleasing fashion, in some cases aided by the use of spacers in the joints between the sides of the tiles. Induction, or some other method of heat, is applied to the upper surfaces of the tiles, to quickly transfer through the tile, causing a polymer hot-melt material embedded in the reactivatable tile bonding mat to melt and adhere to a lower surface of the tiles, forming a strong bond. Upon the tiles fully bonding to the reactivatable tile bonding mat, spacers may be removed and a suitable grout may be applied in the joints between the sides of the tiles.

The foam support layer is bonded to an underside of the heating element with the second adhesive layer.
