Adhesive additive with enhanced stiffness change and non-destructive inspection method
A composite material joined with a curable phenolic resin adhesive, with the phenolic resin adhesive comprising a stiffening agent precursor, and with the stiffening agent precursor selected to react with reaction by-products of the phenolic resin adhesive during curing to produce a reaction product stiffening agent in a cured bonding layer that is detectable by ultrasound, resins comprising the stiffening agent precursor, bonding layers comprising the reaction product stiffening agent, and methods for making the composite material joints and inspecting the composite material joints are disclosed.
Adhered structure and method for production thereof
The present invention provides an adhered structure in which members of the same or different materials are adhered to each other with a high adhesive strength and a method for producing the adhered structure. The adhered structure of the present invention comprises a first solid member, a second solid member, and an adhesive member. The first solid member and the second solid member are adhered to each other through the adhesive member. The adhesive member contains a polymer. The polymer is chemically bonded to the first solid member and the second solid member.
Process for regenerating a monolithic, macro-structural, inter-penetrating elastomer network morphology from ground tire rubber particles
Crumb rubber obtained from recycled tires is subjected to an interlinked substitution process. The process utilizes a reactive component that interferes with sulfur bonds. The resulting treated rubber exhibits properties similar to those of the virgin composite rubber structure prior to being granulated, and is suitable for use in fabricating new tires, engineered rubber articles, and asphalt rubber for use in waterproofing and paving applications.
Aerogel containing foam board
An insulative construction product includes a polyurethane foam core and a mixture of Aerogel and carbon black that is disposed within the polyurethane foam core. The mixture of Aerogel and carbon black includes between 90 and 99 weight percent Aerogel and between 1 and 10 weight percent carbon black. The polyurethane foam core includes between 10 and 90 percent by volume of the of Aerogel and carbon black mixture and the construction product has an R-value of at least 8.0 R/inch.
REINFORCED PAPER, METHOD OF MAKING A REINFORCED PAPER, AND ARTICLE COMPRISING A REINFORCED PAPER
A reinforced paper includes a nonwoven fibrous mat impregnated with a polyetherimide composition. The nonwoven fibrous mat includes a reinforcing fiber, a high strength toughening fiber, or a combination thereof. The polyetherimide composition includes a polyetherimide having repeating units as defined herein. A method of making a reinforced paper is also disclosed. The method includes contacting at least a portion of a nonwoven fibrous mat with a composition to form a pre-preg, and heating under conditions effective to provide the reinforced paper. Articles including the reinforced paper are also described.

Foil laminate for hermetic enclosures
An electronics enclosure is configured to provide protection against a wet and/or humid environment, and that is configured to allow radio frequency (RF) reception and transmission by electronics within the enclosure. In an example of the enclosure, a plurality of layers interact synergistically to provide protection against moisture and a plurality of low cost antennas are disposed proximate an exterior of the enclosure. In the example, a foil layer of the enclosure defines a small opening, through which RF and electrical coupling occurs. The coupling ensures electrical connection to the antenna(s), defined in a layer proximate an exterior of the enclosure.
Filling and leveling methods and apparatus for building tight tolerance surfaces
Filling and leveling methods and apparatus for building tight tolerance surfaces are disclosed. An example method includes applying one or more of a tape or a sealant along an interior of a recess of a vehicle to move through a fluid. The example method includes leveling the one or more of the tape or the sealant to a first height at a first edge of the recess and a second height at a second edge of the recess to modify a fluid dynamic property of a fluid flow over the vehicle.
ALUMINUM ALLOY FOIL, LAMINATE OF SAME, METHOD FOR PRODUCING SAID ALUMINUM ALLOY FOIL, AND METHOD FOR PRODUCING SAID LAMINATE
Provided is an aluminum alloy foil that has sufficient surface hardness, while exhibiting excellent moist-heat resistance and corrosion resistance. The aluminum alloy foil contains 96.9 mass % or more of aluminum, 0.4 mass % or more and 3 mass % or less of manganese, 0.03 mass % or more and 0.08 mass % or less of iron, 0.00001 mass % or more and 0.1 mass % or less of silicon, 0.00001 mass % or more and 0.03 mass % or less of copper, 0.00001 mass % or more and 0.01 mass % or less of zinc, and 0.00001 mass % or more and 0.001 mass % or less of magnesium, based on the aluminum alloy foil taken as 100 mass %.
AEROGEL CONTAINING CONSTRUCTION BOARD
A construction product described herein includes a fiber core that includes a plurality of entangled glass fibers. The fiber core also includes a binder that bonds the plurality of entangled glass fibers together and an Aerogel material that is homogenously or uniformly disposed within the fiber core. In some instances, the fiber core includes between 40 and 80 weight percent of the Aerogel material. The construction product has an R-value of at least 6.5 per inch, a flame spread index of no greater than 5, and a smoke development index of no greater than 20 as measured according to the ASTM E-84 tunnel test.
