Apparatus for packaging an item
A system and process of printing a package of expanded material (e.g., expanded starch, foam or other expanded material). The expanded material can be heated and extruded, poured, sprayed, or otherwise applied in malleable form that sets up to become a porous protective covering for an item to be packaged. In an example, a layer of expanded material is laid down, and the item in a protective covering (e.g., a plastic bag, sleeve, coating, etc.) is positioned on the layer of expanded material. Additional layers or expanded material may be applied, thereby encasing the item. The top surface of the expanded material may be flattened, such as by operation of a roller, press, or cutter. The top surface may be sprayed with a shellac sealant, paint, or other coating, to allow printing of a label on the top surface.
Methods of manufacturing one or more discrete objects from a body of material created by additive manufacturing
A system for manufacturing a plurality of discrete objects from a body of material created by additive manufacturing using an automated manufacturing device includes an automated manufacturing device, the automated manufacturing device including at least a controller configured to receive at least a graphical model of a plurality of structures, receive at least a graphical representation of at least an interconnecting portion, the at least an interconnecting portion connecting at least a first structure of the plurality of structures to at least a second structure of the plurality of structures, and generate a graphical representation of an additively manufacture body of material, as a function of the graphical model of the plurality of structures, and the graphical representation of the at least an interconnecting portion.

Three-dimensional printing with diffuser plate
A three-dimensional printing system may include a build platform, the build platform including at least one hole defined through the build platform, a diffuser plate placed below the at least one hole to maintain an amount of build material between a lower surface of the build platform and an upper surface of the diffuser plate, and a flow channel defined around the diffuser plate and sealing the diffuser plate from atmosphere.

Apparatus and methods for additive manufacturing of three dimensional objects
A method of additive manufacturing a three-dimensional object by layerwise deposition of a building material with an inkjet printing system comprising a print head and a building tray, comprises calculating a weighting value for each nozzle, then for each layer obtaining a 2-D map of the layer, comprising active pixels at building material dispensing positions; obtaining a Data Correction Filter (DCF) including a height map of the previous layer, comparing the data of the 2D map to the data of the DCF at each position and determining if the nozzle at that position should dispense, then printing the layer, updating the weighting values and adjusting the position of the print head vis a vis the printing tray. The above is repeated until the three-dimensional object is printed.

Processing an object representation
A method of adjusting a three-dimensional representation of an object to be manufactured in an additive manufacturing process comprises determining a processing operation to be applied to the object, and adjusting the three-dimensional representation of the object based on adjustment parameters associated with the processing operation.
Method of welding additively manufactured thermoplastic
A method of forming a component includes additively manufacturing a first subcomponent, the first subcomponent including a first polymer material with a first porosity. The method further includes mating the first subcomponent with a second subcomponent and ultrasonically welding the first subcomponent to the second subcomponent at a weld frequency. The first porosity can be 5% or less.
