Screen printing apparatus including support bars, and methods of using same
A method is disclosed for electroforming metal screen. The method deposits photoresist over a mandrel, and then exposes the photoresist with light through a plurality of openings in a photo tool to form hardened resist pillars. Unexposed photoresist is removed without affecting the resist pillars. The method then electroforms the metal screen in areas free of the hardened resist pillars such that the metal screen forms apertures defined by each of the resist pillars, a space between at least two of the resist pillars defining a support bar that forms at a reduced thickness as compared to portions of the metal screen that are not between the resist pillars. Finally, the method detaches the metal screen from the mandrel.

Composite stencils, methods of making, and methods of decorating with composite stencils
A composite stencil for applying designs to walls and other surfaces is disclosed. The stencil includes a porous textile support layer to which a flexible stencil mask is bonded by an adhesion layer. The support layer supports unconnected parts of the stencil mask without bridges common with traditional stencils. Further, the textile support layer in the open areas of the stencil can be colored with a sublimation dye to suggest to a user the colors that should be applied in the various areas of the stencil. A pressure sensitive adhesive is applied to the back of the stencil. In use, the stencil is removably adhered to a surface by the pressure sensitive adhesive, whereupon paint or other pigment is applied through the textile support layer to the surface. The lack of bridges permits the entire design to be applied with a single stencil in a single session. The stencil is cleanable and reusable to apply additional designs.
Printer
A printer includes a holder configured to house rolled recording paper, a cover that is attached to the holder to be openable and closable relative to the holder, and a contact part that is attached to the cover and configured to contact the recording paper. The contact part is configured such that the contact part substantially point-contacts the recording paper, and positions on the contact part contacting the recording paper change as the recording paper is unrolled.
Method and apparatus for preparing a screen printing screen
A system or machine is disclosed which takes pre-stretched emulsion coated screens, digitally prints thereon and exposes them before further processing and use in a screen printing machine.
Direct to mesh screen stencil creation
The preparation of a screen stencil is provided, using a direct to mesh screen stencil printer. The DtM screen printer includes a frame for holding a pre-stretched mesh in place during application of a jettable emulsion, a fixture to hold the frame, a platen to hold a release paper against one side of the pre-stretched mesh, and a printer carriage supporting a print head for printing the jettable emulsion on a side of the pre-stretched mesh opposite the platen. The release paper is configured to inhibit dot-gain while not adhering to the jettable emulsion following its curing. A method is also provided, the method being for using the DtM screen printer to prepare the screen stencil for screen printing.
Reinforced tensioning frame
A tensioning frame for tensioning a printing screen comprises struts to reinforce the constituent beams. These may be provided either on a supplementary brace plate or integrally formed with the beam. A shaft may be used to retain engagement bodies within pockets formed in the beam.

Direct to mesh screen stencil creation
A direct to mesh (DtM) screen printer for creating a screen stencil is provided. The DtM screen printer includes a frame to hold a pre-stretched mesh in place during application of a jettable emulsion, a fixture to hold the frame, a platen to hold a release fluid against one side of the pre-stretched mesh, a fluid dispenser for dispensing the release fluid onto the platen or mesh, and a printer carriage supporting a print head for printing the jettable emulsion on a side of the pre-stretched mesh opposite the platen. A process is also provided, the process being for using the DtM screen printer to prepare the screen stencil for screen printing.
