Front-to-back registration of printed content
Examples disclosed herein relate to front-to-back registration of a printed content onto a print medium. In one example, a trigger signal generated by a sensor upon detection of a trigger mark on a first surface of a print medium is received. The trigger mark includes a leading edge and a trailing edge, wherein the leading edge and the trailing edge are non-parallel. Based on the trigger signal, a distance of the trailing edge from a point on the leading edge is determined. Once determined, a measure of lateral wander of the print medium with respect to the print path is obtained. The measure of the lateral wander is determined by comparing the distance between the leading edge and the trailing edge, with a threshold value.

Device and method for printing and drying plastic films
A method and a device for printing and drying a plastic film web, especially a polypropylene (PP), polystyrene (PS), or polyethylene (PE) film web, employ several offset printing mechanisms for printing the film web with different ink applications and at least one flame drying station. The device also includes a drawing roller, which is arranged between a last printing mechanism and the at least one flame drying station, contacts the unprinted surface of the film web, and applies tension to the film web.

Systems and methods for aligning preprinted images on a roll of substrate to the moving components of a web press are disclosed. A method in accordance with one embodiment includes determining the speed of the moving components of the press, determining the speed of the web of preprinted images and adjusting the speed of the web of preprinted image to match the speed of the web. In particular embodiments, a press which produces rolls of preprinted material can be modified to change the equivalent cutoff length of the press. In further embodiments, a method of pasting new rolls of material to expiring rolls of material is accomplished by modulating the drive speed of the new roll of material to match the expiring roll of material while at the same time aligning the images on the new roll with the expiring roll.

Systems and methods for aligning preprinted images on a roll of substrate to the moving components of a web press are disclosed. A method in accordance with one embodiment includes determining the speed of the moving components of the press, determining the speed of the web of preprinted images and adjusting the speed of the web of preprinted image to match the speed of the web. In particular embodiments, a press which produces rolls of preprinted material can be modified to change the equivalent cutoff length of the press. In further embodiments, a method of pasting new rolls of material to expiring rolls of material is accomplished by modulating the drive speed of the new roll of material to match the expiring roll of material while at the same time aligning the images on the new roll with the expiring roll.

A foil transfer film cartridge includes a supply reel on which a foil film including a transfer layer containing foil is wound, a take-up reel on which to take up the foil film, a first connecting portion extending in a direction perpendicular to a first axial direction along a rotation axis of the supply reel and connecting the supply reel and the take-up reel at a position apart from the foil film, and a film guide member extending in a second axial direction along a rotation axisof the take-up reel the film guide member being capable of assuming an out-of-contact state and an in-contact state with the foil film extended between the supply reel and the take-up reel.

Examples include a device for providing sheet-format substrate sections from a web-format substrate. The device includes a roll unwinder for inlet-side feeding of the web-format substrate. Two application devices act on the same first side of the web substrate, and are formed by coating units for supplying, to the same first side of the web substrate, a varnish that forms a barrier layer. A drying device is provided between a cross-cutting device and an upstream first coating unit and/or the drying device is provided in the substrate path between the two coating units and the cross-cutting device. The web-format substrate can be cut into sheet-format substrate sections and, at the outlet, the substrate sections can be provided for subsequent processing or output to a delivery unit.
