REVERSE LASER WRITING AND TRANSFER PROCESS FOR DIGITAL OFFSET PRINTS
The present disclosure relates to a print process in which ink is transferred as a thin layer to a thin polymeric substrate and then the non-image areas of the polymeric substrate are laser-cured. After the curing of the non-imaged area the remaining ink (non-cured ink) undergoes complete transfer to a print-media-of-interest forming the digital print.
Anilox patterns and doctor blades for metering high viscosity pigmented inks
A chamber blade system maximizes ink flow at an anilox doctor blade by including a heating element adjacent the doctor blade to heat ink adjacent the blade. The heating element may be a heat strip next to an anilox doctor blade that heats the ink adjacent the doctor blade and temporarily reduces the ink viscosity to improve the flow of ink in the vicinity of the blade. Doctoring blades with a ceramic tip coating may be configured to allow a small amount of controlled ink flow through that can wet the lands thereby reducing the hydrodynamic back pressures and friction when trying to force the ink into anilox cells.
SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR CONTROLLING COLOR CHARACTERISTICS OF A PRINTED IMAGE
A method controls the color in a printing press, which includes at least one printing station printing a respective color design. The method includes the procedures of determining a control factor to color model, printing a design on a web and acquiring color characteristics corresponding to the printed design on the web. The method further includes the procedures of determining the color quality of the printed color design and determining a required change to at least one control factor when a correction to the color characteristics of the printed design is required. The change to at least one control factor is determined by determining the at least one control factor with respective color related information, which results in a reference color characteristic, according to the control factor to color model. The method returns to the procedure of printing when a correction is not required.
Rotary screen printing apparatus and process
The present disclosure is directed to a rotary screen printing apparatus, comprising: a rotary cylindrical screen; a conduit which provides fluid communication to an internal volume of the rotary cylindrical screen; and, a heater whose output is directed towards the conduit.
SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR RAPID PRESS CHANGEOVER WITH SENSED INK CHARACTERISTIC
A decorator press for printing on metal cans has a pump unit, a distribution head, a sensing device and a processing circuit. The pump unit comprises a plurality of inlet ports, a first inlet port configured to receive an ink of a first color from a first ink source and a second inlet port configured to receive an ink of a second color darker than the first color. The distribution head is coupled to the pump unit and configured to spread fluid received from the pump unit across zones of a print roller. The sensing device is coupled to the press and configured to sense a characteristic of fluid flowing out of the distribution head. The processing circuit is configured to receive the sensed characteristic, compare the sensed characteristic to a predetermined threshold, and to provide an indication to a display based on the comparison.
Gravure coater test apparatus and gravure coater
A gravure coater test apparatus includes a gravure roll and a backup roll which are circumscribed to each other, a motor which drives the gravure roll partially submerged in a water-based pressure-sensitive adhesive for coating, a controller which adjusts the rotational speed of the motor, a doctor blade which is selected from a plurality of types to scrape the water-based pressure-sensitive adhesive from the surface of the gravure roll being rotated, and an infrared analyzer which allows at least one of the type of the water-based pressure-sensitive adhesive corresponding to the selected doctor blade, the uniformity of the coating surface, and the amount of the coated water-based pressure-sensitive adhesive to be confirmed.
Temperature control assembly for controlling the temperature of a functional parts of a printing machine, and printing system comprising at least one printing machine and a temperature control assembly
A temperature control assembly controls the temperature of functional parts of a printing machine. The temperature control assembly comprises a plurality of assembly-side sub-circuits, the temperature of which is to be individually controlled, each sub-circuit having a temperature-control fluid outlet and a temperature-control fluid inlet, on each of which, in order to form a respective temperature control circuit, one or more functional parts can be connected as loads of a temperature-controlling external temperature control sub-circuit by the use of releasable connections, and which, on the feed side of the temperature control thereof, are or can be thermally and fluidically coupled, via respective removal points, to a common feed line, and on the return side, via each return point, to a common fluid return. The temperature control assembly is configured as a structurally independent assembly comprising the assembly-side temperature control circuits thereof and the feed and return, and a temperature control device that controls the temperature of the temperature control fluid supplied to the feed, one of on and in a single-component or in a multi-component frame of the temperature control assembly.
