A method is provided for configuring a drying device in a printing machine, in particular in a value document printing machine. The printing machine has at least one printing unit which comprises an imaging cylinder having a plurality of imaging printing elements or groups of imaging printing elements which are arranged in rows and columns on its circumference. A drying device has a dryer, by which print material, passing through the dryer, is subject to radiation. The drying device is configured for ongoing or upcoming production in such a way that the print material passing through the dryer, in order to be dried, is subjected to radiation in a plurality of tracks spaced from each other by non-irradiated tracks according to the same switch-on and switch-off sequence extending over cycle length. The configuration takes place with regard to one of a lateral position and a width of the tracks to be subject to two radiation by the dryer using product-related data or information regarding one of the number and the size and the position of value items to be printed next to each other on the print material portion and one of using data which comes from a device for image capture and an evaluation comprised by the printing machine or provided in parallel to such a device.

A decorator (10) for printing onto cylindrical structures (18) has a plurality of inkers (12). Each inker (12) has a pair of opposing frame plates (40, 48). A printing plate (204) is affixed to a printing plate cylinder (200) carried by a rotational printing plate cylinder shaft (202). The printing plate shaft (202) is disposed between the opposing frame plates (40, 48). A main shaft (38) supports the inker (12) on the decorator (10) such that the pair of opposing frame plates (40, 48) are slidable along a length of the main shaft (38). A lateral adjustment servomotor (220) acts on a corresponding inker (212) to impart a movement by the inker (12) along the length of the main shaft (38).

IMAGE INSPECTION METHOD WITH LOCAL IMAGE RECTIFICATION
20190291409 · 2019-09-26 ·

A method for image inspection on printed products in a printing material processing machine. Printed products are recorded and digitizing and the recorded images are compared with a digital reference image to find image areas with distorted regions. Suitable rectification factors are calculated and the digital reference image is rectified with suitable rectification factors for the distorted image areas. The modified digital reference image is then compared to images recorded during the production run. If deviations are found, the printed products are found defective and removed. The computer also identifies image areas in the reference image that do not have enough edges for calculating suitable rectification factors and inserts anchors into the image areas. The anchors are printed, recorded and digitized, as they become part of the recorded digital printed image. In that case, the computer calculates the local rectification factors by way of the anchors.

APPARATUS FOR REGISTERED FOIL STAMPING AND A PROCESS THEREFOR
20190210388 · 2019-07-11 ·

This invention relates to an apparatus and a process for transferring images, barcodes, optical patterns, latent images, Fresnel lenses, holograms, sterling lenses etc from a stamping foil (116) at desired locations on to a substrate (110) such as paper, polymeric film, flexible laminates, woven or non-woven substrate and combination of these in roll to roll form and more particularly to an apparatus and a process for registered transfer of images, barcodes, optical patterns, latent images, Fresnel lenses, holograms, sterling lenses etc from a stamping foil (116) to a substrate (110) in accurate registered relation. The use of high resolution and high speed sensors (135, 160, 162, 164, 166, 168) provides continuous precise data to the regulating device which results in the continuous correction in the corresponding position of stamping punch/es (137) and stamping foil (116) to match the locations on substrate (110). This provides accurate registered transfer of prints, latent images or Fresnel lenses on the substrate (110) with efficient utilization of stamping foil (116).

A method for operating a system for a multiple dynamic job sequence includes providing a packet of information in order to process different production runs. An additional packet of information is used to inquire about respective states during the manufacturing process so as to enable interventions to be made based on the jobs being not processed as originally. An additional packet of information is received, from which information regarding physical detection of a printing and processing situation is taken such that each downstream processing machine is able to identify the job and a job end. By identifying the job and the job end, an additional packet of information is forwarded to the plant controller, the plant controller detecting an actual state of the manufacturing process therefrom such that new or adapted job sequences and job ends are directly defined during the manufacturing process.
