DETERMINING ALIGNMENT USING FIDUCIALS

A print apparatus is disclosed. In some examples, the print apparatus comprises a print head to deposit print agent onto a substrate; a detector to detect a fiducial; a first light source to back-illuminate the substrate, such that light from the first light source is to be detected by the detector through the substrate; and processing apparatus. The processing apparatus is to operate the print head to deposit print agent to form a first fiducial on a first side of the substrate, the first fiducial comprising a shape of a first colour and having a first dimension, and a background of print agent of a second, different colour, wherein the first dimension of the shape does not exceed a corresponding dimension of the background; operate the print head to deposit print agent to form a second fiducial on a second, opposite side of the substrate, the second fiducial comprising an inverted version of the shape of the first colour; operate the first light source to back-illuminate the substrate; operate the detector to detect the first and second fiducials; and determine whether the first fiducial is aligned with the second fiducial. A method and a machine-readable medium are also disclosed.

This invention relates to a print bar structure, a printing apparatus and a method for printing on an outer surface of an object comprising at least one cylindrical portion, particularly a cylindrical and/or conical container. The invention also relates to a manufacturing facility and method for manufacturing containers. The printing apparatus typically comprises a print bar structure, a plurality of print heads attachable to the print bar structure, a curing device, and a displacement assembly operatively attachable to the container. The print bar structure at least partly defines a print zone, wherein the print heads and the curing device is operatively disposed in the print zone. The displacement assembly is operable to rotate object about an axis substantially aligned with the central axis relative to the plurality of print heads in the print zone such that fluid is deposited onto the object during rotation of the object.

Printing apparatus and printing method

A printing apparatus includes: a mechanism transporting a print medium; a first sensor outputting a signal indicating the presence or absence of a first mark; a first determining unit determining, on a first surface, a position of a second mark and a print position of an image based on the output signal; a first print head printing the second mark and the image at the determined print positions; a second sensor outputting a signal indicating the presence or absence of the first and second marks; a second determining unit locating a position of a predetermined one of the first and second marks, based on the signal output from the second sensor, and determines, on a second surface of the print medium, a print position of a target image based on the located position of the predetermined mark; and a second print head printing the target image at the determined print position.

System and method for coating a lens

A system and method for coating a lens (10) using a plurality of inkjet print bars (46) arranged in-line, includes generating, using at least one processor (54, 110) in communication with the plurality of inkjet print bars (46), at least one graphical user interface configured to facilitate the automation of the creation or selection of an image to be printed on a lens (10); generating a plurality of image layers based on the lens (10) geometry, target product, and number of print bars (46); and controlling, using the at least one processor (54, 110), at least two of the plurality of inkjet print bars (46) to print the image on the lens (10), such that each of the at least two inkjet print bars (46) prints at least one image layer of the plurality of image layers.

Wide format staggered single pass printing apparatus

The disclosed embodiments relate to a wide format single pass printing apparatus. The printing apparatus can include multiple print housings configured to receive print beams with print heads configured to print onto a substrate. The print housings can be horizontally adjacent to one another relative to a horizontal plane. The print housings can also be oriented opposite to one another. The print beams can be inserted and/or removed from each print housing from opposing ends, allowing for greater ease of access to the print beams.

On a carriage that is transported in a main scanning direction by a main scanning drive portion heads are disposed so as to be displaced from each other in a sub-scanning direction, and heads are disposed so as to be displaced from each other in the sub-scanning direction. Therefore, even when an ejection failure occurs in nozzles of one of the two heads and in nozzles of one of the two heads ink can be ejected from the other head that ejects the same type of ink in main scanning. Thus, even when the ejection failure occurs in the nozzles, a deterioration in print quality can be suppressed.

DIGITAL BINDER AND POWDER PRINT
20210379907 · 2021-12-09 · ·

A method and equipment to form a digital print by applying dry colourants on a surface of a panel, bonding a part of the colourants with a binder and removing the non-bonded colourants from the surface. The method of forming a digital print on a surface of a panel includes displacing the panel under a digital drop application head, applying a liquid binder with the digital drop application head on the surface; applying colourants on the liquid binder and the surface; bonding a part of the colourants to the surface with the liquid binder; removing non-bonded colourants from the surface such that a digital print is formed by the bonded colourants; and applying heat and pressure on the panel, the surface and the bonded colorants such that the colourants are permanently bonded to the surface.
