An image forming apparatus may include a mechanism for forming a corrugated shape in a sheet to be conveyed. The mechanism may include various components include one or more pressing portions, one or more ribs, one or more discharge rollers, a switching mechanism and the like. In one arrangement, ribs and pressing portions configured to create the corrugated shape may be disposed at various locations upstream or downstream of the platen, recording portion and/or nozzles thereof. In one example, pressing portions may be disposed both upstream and downstream of the nozzles of the recording portion to maintain a corrugated shape in the conveyed sheet. Various other configurations may be used.

Printer calibration

A printer includes a page wide array of printing elements extending in a first orientation and co-located with a media path extending in a second orientation generally perpendicular to the first orientation. The printer is selectively operable according to a calibration involving current calibration values for a first subset of the page wide array of printing elements and a substitute calibration value for at least one non-first subset printing element of the page wide array immediately adjacent to at least one of the first subset printing elements.

A printing apparatus is achieved that has an auto-splice function and is capable of performing, when roll paper is replaced, suitable maintenance taking into account a print process scheduled to be executed after replacement of the roll paper. When a splicer replaces, regarding the roll paper to be used, the preceding roll paper with the subsequent roll paper, a print control unit controls an operation of a printing unit such that an inspection pattern is printed at a tail of continuous paper unwound from the preceding roll paper, and a maintenance content control unit determines maintenance content for an inkjet head in accordance with a criterion suitable for printing on continuous paper unwound from the subsequent roll paper based on an inspection result obtained by inspection of a print image for the inspection pattern.

Image recording apparatus

There is provided an image recording apparatus including: an endless belt which extends in a conveying direction and which has a conveying surface configured to convey a medium; a driver configured to rotate the endless belt along the conveying direction; a support which is aligned with the endless belt in an orthogonal direction being parallel to the conveying surface and orthogonal to the conveying direction, the support having a pair of support walls extending in the conveying direction, and arranged at an interval in the orthogonal direction so as to define between each other a space opened in an orientation in which the conveying surface faces; an air flow generator configured to generate an air flow allowed to flow along the conveying direction in the space between the support walls; and a recorder configured to record an image on the medium supported by the endless belt and the support.

A printing apparatus includes a conveying unit that conveys a medium, a printing unit that ejects ink onto the medium, and a drying unit dries the ink ejected from the printing unit to the medium. The drying unit includes a support portion that supports the medium, an airflow generating unit that generates an airflow, a blowout port for airflows that is disposed at a position facing the image forming surface of the medium conveyed by the conveying unit and blows out the airflow, and an airflow direction determining portion that determines an air blowing direction that is a direction toward which the airflow blown out from the blowout port is directed. The air blowing direction is inclined with respect to an opposing direction in which the blowout port faces the image forming surface as viewed from the conveying direction.

A control apparatus includes a grouping unit configured to divide a plurality of sheets, each associated with a plurality of pages included in a processing target job into groups, and a control unit to control feeding of a sheet from a feeding unit onto a conveyance path and refeeding of a sheet that has been conveyed on the conveyance path onto the conveyance path. The grouping unit sets a group size that is not less than a maximum sheet size used in the processing target job, and the grouping unit decides the group of the predetermined page as the first group. The grouping unit also decides the group of the predetermined page as a second group different from the first group, and the control unit controls feeding and refeeding for each group grouped in the grouping unit.
