Tape cassette

A tape cassette that includes a housing having a front wall and a tape feed exit located on the front wall, a tape at least partially included within the housing and configured to be fed along a tape feed path extending to the tape feed exit, and tape type indicator apertures formed on the front wall of the housing. A combination of the tape type indicator apertures forms a pattern corresponding to a type of the tape at least partially included within the housing. The tape type indicator apertures include a first tape type indicator aperture and a second tape type indicator aperture, and the tape type indicator apertures are positioned such that the first tape type indicator aperture is not aligned with the second tape type indicator aperture in a direction orthogonal to the tape feed path and parallel to the front wall.

In one example, a method for an inkjet web printer includes a print engine printing a first print job on a moving first web, a printer controller receiving a second print job, the printer controller determining that the second print job may be printed after the first print job on a second web automatically spliced to the moving first web, a web supply automatically splicing the second web to the moving first web, the printer controller reconfiguring the print engine from a first configuration for the first print job to a second configuration for the second print job without stopping the moving first web or the moving second web, and the print engine printing the second print job on the moving second web.

MEDIA IDENTIFICATION

There is provided a print apparatus and a media roll for the print apparatus, comprising a media identifier located on an end of a core section of the media roll. A type of media loaded into the print apparatus is determined by sensing the media identifier on the media roll using a non-contact sensor to scan the end of the core section.

Automatically reconfiguring a web printer

In one example, an inkjet web printer includes a print engine and a controller programmed to determine that a second print job following a first print job may be printed without stopping the web and, without stopping the web, cause the print engine to print the second print job.

INKJET PRINTING APPARATUS AND PRINTING METHOD

An object is to provide a full-line inkjet printing apparatus and a printing method that can suppress occurrence of image degradation in the case where a conveyance roller conveys a print medium and multipass printing is performed. The maximum conveyance amount in a return route is set to be smaller than a distance between the conveyance roller and a print head.

Information processing device for calculating a penetration degree and computer readable medium for the same

An information processing device includes a processor configured to acquire a first characteristic value indicating a shape characteristic of a surface of a medium, and calculate, based on the first characteristic value, a penetration degree of a droplet into the medium.

PRINTING APPARATUS, CONTROL METHOD, AND CONVEYANCE APPARATUS

To provide a technology capable of appropriately suppressing deterioration in cutting accuracy of a slitter although the rigidity of a print medium changes, a printing apparatus is equipped with: a first conveyance unit configured to convey a print medium; a printing unit configured to print an image by applying ink to the print medium conveyed by the first conveyance unit; a cutting unit disposed on a downstream side in a conveyance direction in which the print medium is conveyed by the first conveyance unit and configured to cut the print medium, which is conveyed by the first conveyance unit, along the conveyance direction; and a second conveyance unit disposed on the cutting unit, and the printing apparatus includes a correction unit configured to correct a parameter related to conveyance of at least one of the first conveyance unit and the second conveyance unit, based on information about the print medium.

IMAGE FORMING APPARATUS

An image forming apparatus includes a photoelectric sensor and a controller. The photoelectric sensor emits light to an object to be detected, receives the light reflected on the object and outputs an electric signal corresponding to a quantity of the reflected light. The object includes a facing surface area and a sheet on the facing surface area. The controller detects whether the sheet exists on the facing surface area in accordance with an output of the photoelectric sensor. The controller stores, as a threshold of the output of the photoelectric sensor, a first threshold for determining that the sheet does not exist on the facing surface area and a second threshold for determining that the sheet exists on the facing surface area, and determines that the facing surface area is contaminated when the output of the photoelectric sensor is within a range between the first threshold and the second threshold.

Image forming apparatus for weight property determination

An image forming apparatus and method are disclosed. A detection light is radiated to a medium. An amount of transmitted light, an amount of regular reflected light, and an amount of diffuse reflected light are detected. A reflected-light-amount-equivalent value is obtained when the amount of regular reflected light is standardized based on the amount of diffuse reflected light. A glossy sheet-thickness coefficient is calculated by adding the reflected-light-amount-equivalent value to a transmitted-light-amount-equivalent value that is based on the amount of transmitted light. The weight property of the medium is determined, based on the glossy sheet-thickness coefficient, wherein the weight property comprises a basis weight or a thickness of the medium.

Determining a parameter for curing images

In an example, a method of curing images on a substrate comprises identifying the substrate, determining a deformation temperature of the substrate based on the identifying, calculating a parameter for curing images on the substrate based on the deformation temperature and a thickness of the substrate using a fuzzy logic algorithm, and causing a printing apparatus to cure the images on the substrate based on the parameter.
