DEVICES, SYSTEMS, AND METHODS FOR CONTROLLING AIRFLOW THROUGH VACUUM PLATEN OF PRINTING SYSTEM BY ROTATING VALVE
A printing system comprises an ink deposition assembly, a media transport device, and an airflow control system. The ink deposition assembly comprises printheads to deposit a print fluid, such as ink, on print media, such as paper, transported through a deposition region. The media transport device holds the print media against a movable support surface, such as a belt, by vacuum suction through holes in the media transport device and transports the print media though the deposition region. The airflow control system comprises one or more valves that are actuatable between an open state and a closed state, each valve blocking a subset of the holes in the closed state. The airflow control system also comprises one or more actuators to actuate the valve(s). The actuator(s) selectively actuate the valve(s) between the open and closed states based on a position of an inter-media zone between adjacent print media.
Inkjet printer
An inkjet printer including a feeding device configured to feed a sheet in a feeding direction, a platen configured to support the sheet, a recording device configured to eject ink on the sheet, contacting members configured to contact the sheet, a detector configured to detect an end portion position of the sheet in a width direction, and a controller configured to control the feeding device and the recording device is provided. The contacting members are arranged at intervals in the width direction, and the controller performs a suppression process in which at least one of the feeding device and the recording device is controlled to suppress a contact of the sheet with the recording device when the end portion position detected by the detector is a position between the two adjacent contacting members.
COMPENSATING PLATEN DEFECTS BASED ON PRINTHEAD-TO-PLATEN SPACING
In one example, an apparatus is described, which includes a platen locating the print medium, at least one printhead for marking on the print medium, a carriage holding the at least one printhead, a sensor at least partially mounted to the carriage to measure a printhead-to-platen spacing (PPS) along scanning axis during scanning, and an integrated circuit including a dynamic compensation module and a PPS analysis module to delay firing of printing fluid drops from the at least one printhead to compensate platen defects based on the measured PPS.
RECORDING DEVICE AND METHOD FOR DRYING RECORDING MEDIUM
A recording device includes a transport unit configured to alternately repeat transport and stop of a recording medium, a recording head configured to discharge ink onto the recording medium to form an image while the recording medium is stopped in an image forming region, a drying unit including a plate in which a plurality of openings for blowing an air flow are formed in a position facing the recording medium transported by the transport unit, and being configured to dry the recording medium on which an image is formed by the recording head, and a relative movement unit configured to move the recording medium and the plate relatively in an intersecting direction that intersects a facing direction in which the recording medium and the plate face each other, while the recording medium is stopped in the image forming region.

PRINTING APPARATUS
A printing apparatus includes a printing portion, a transport portion a medium support portion disposed on an upstream side of a recording head, and a removal portion that includes a first contact portion, which comes into contact with the printing surface when a medium is supported by the medium support portion. The removal portion is spatially separated from the medium support portion at both a section on the upstream side of the first contact portion and a section on the downstream side of the first contact portion. An interval between the removal portion and the medium support portion becomes wider in tandem with progression toward a direction opposite to the transport direction on the upstream side in the transport direction of the first contact portion, and becomes wider in tandem with progression toward the transport direction on the downstream side in the transport direction of the first contact portion.
