A lower end of the contact portion is located lower than each upper end of the pair of first ribs. The platen includes a second rib disposed between one first rib of the pair of first ribs and the contact portion with respect to the scanning direction, and an upper end of the second rib is located lower than the upper end of the one first rib of the pair of first ribs and higher than the lower end of the contact portion.

There is provided a liquid discharge apparatus including: a discharge portion that discharges liquid to a medium to be transported in a transporting direction, and a supporting portion that has a supporting surface supporting the medium, in which the supporting surface does not have unevenness in a width direction intersecting the transporting direction, but has groove portions formed continuously along the width direction, and the groove portions are formed with suction holes which suck the medium.

There is provided a liquid discharge apparatus including: a discharge portion that discharges liquid to a medium to be transported in a transporting direction, and a supporting portion that has a supporting surface supporting the medium, in which the supporting surface does not have unevenness in a width direction intersecting the transporting direction, but has groove portions formed continuously along the width direction, and the groove portions are formed with suction holes which suck the medium.

A holder assembly includes a base, a drive assembly coupled to the base, a motive source connected to the drive assembly, a vertical force applicator connected to the drive assembly along a connection edge thereof, and a gripping member coupled to the base, the gripping member having a contact surface coupled to a vacuum source, wherein the drive assembly has a first position with the flattening member engaged with the contact surface and a second position with the flattening member positioned away from the contact surface.

A printer includes an ultraviolet (UV) curing device having UV light emitting diodes (LEDs) to cure UV curable inks ejected onto a surface after the surface travels past a plurality of printheads in the printer. A UV detector having UV sensors is positioned opposite the UV curing device so the UV sensors and UV LEDs are opposite one another in a one-to-one correspondence. A controller operates the UV curing device to direct UV light into the UV detector and receives electrical signals generated by the UV sensors. The controller compares these electrical signals to a predetermined threshold to identify defective LEDs in the UV curing device. The controller then determines how to move the UV curing device across the path of the surface to irradiate areas of the surface previously opposite the defective UV LEDs.

An image formation apparatus according to an embodiment may include: a print unit that forms an image on a medium; and a medium conveyance unit that conveys the medium to the print unit. The medium conveyance unit may include: a medium guide that is movable in a width direction of the medium perpendicular to a conveyance direction of the medium, to guide a width end of the medium; a guide position detector that detects a position of the medium guide in the width direction of the medium; and a medium end detector that is provided at the medium guide and detects whether there is the medium with the width end guided by the medium guide. The print unit may include a determination unit that determines a set state of the medium based on a detection result by the medium end detector.

A paper feed tray includes a cassette, a regulation plate which is slidably attached to the cassette, a cover provided to the regulation plate, a locking portion which is covered with the cover and engages with the cassette to fix a position of the regulation plate, and a lever. The lever includes a coupling portion coupled with the locking portion, a depression portion configured to be depressed toward one side in a direction of sliding of the regulation plate, and an intermediate portion provided between the coupling portion and the depression portion. The lever operates the locking portion to be disengaged from the cassette upon the depression portion being depressed toward the one side. The cover includes an extension extending while facing the intermediate portion. A space, which is open at a tip to which the extension extends, is formed between the extension and the intermediate portion.

A paper feed tray includes a cassette, a regulation plate which is slidably attached to the cassette, a cover provided to the regulation plate, a locking portion which is covered with the cover and engages with the cassette to fix a position of the regulation plate, and a lever. The lever includes a coupling portion coupled with the locking portion, a depression portion configured to be depressed toward one side in a direction of sliding of the regulation plate, and an intermediate portion provided between the coupling portion and the depression portion. The lever operates the locking portion to be disengaged from the cassette upon the depression portion being depressed toward the one side. The cover includes an extension extending while facing the intermediate portion. A space, which is open at a tip to which the extension extends, is formed between the extension and the intermediate portion.
