A cutting device includes a fixed blade and a movable blade that slides with respect to the fixed blade during cutting, the movable blade having a first end that engages with the fixed blade at cutting start and a second end that engages with the fixed blade at cutting end, an urging member connected to the movable blade to urge the movable blade towards the fixed blade and a rotation of the movable blade in a first rotational direction, and a support for the movable blade having a shaft that rotates as the movable blade moves, the shaft having a center portion and first and second ends rotatably connected to the movable blade, wherein points of connection of the first and second ends are at locations that urge a rotation of the movable blade in a second rotational direction opposite the first rotational direction.

A printer includes a print engine to print on print media within a print zone, a print media path including a print path portion to direct the print media through the print zone in a first direction, a duplex media path including a duplexing path portion to redirect the print media to the print media path in a second direction opposite the first direction, and a first tandem media tray to hold a first quantity of the print media and a second tandem media tray positioned laterally of the first tandem media tray to hold a second quantity of the print media, wherein the duplexing path portion extends a combined width of the first tandem media tray and the second tandem media tray.

The standing plate moves relative to the outer member.

A paper management system setting a paper information piece of paper stored in a sheet feeding unit in an image forming apparatus from a list of paper information pieces registers the paper information pieces with a favorite group, displays a list of the paper information pieces for each favorite group, and enables the list of the paper information pieces to be associated with a paper feed unit through the screen displaying the list.

A printer has a carriage being movable between a first end and a second end of a reciprocating path; and a driving force transmitting path selecting mechanism provided at the second end of the reciprocating path. The selecting mechanism has: a common driving force outputting member; a plurality of force receiving members; a selecting member; and a position retainer for keeping the position of the selecting member. The selecting member connects the force outputting member to one of the plurality of force receiving members, and moves in association with the carriage when the carriage moves in a vicinity of the second end in a first direction extending from the first end to the second end. An image forming device performs image formation on a medium selected by a computer. When a cutting device is unusable, a long sheet-type medium accommodated in a first medium container is unusable. However, a conveyance passage used for conveying a short sheet-type medium is usable in at least one of a first state where the cutting device is unusable or a second state where the sheet-type medium is unable to pass through the cutting device. A necessary condition to make both the long sheet-type medium and the short sheet-type medium selectable includes the detector detecting neither the first status nor the second status. A necessary condition to make the long sheet-type medium unselectable and make the short sheet-type medium selectable includes the detector detecting one of the first status and the second status.

A recording apparatus includes a hopper which is provided with a mounting surface on which a medium is set, and which is provided to be capable of swinging between a first posture in which the mounting surface of the medium is in a fallen state, and a second posture in which the mounting surface is in an uplifted state, a first pathway that delivers rolled paper, as the medium, to the hopper from an upstream side thereof, a second pathway that delivers cut form paper, as the medium, to the hopper from an upstream side thereof, and a first sensor that detects the medium in the first pathway, wherein the hopper swings from the first posture in a direction that assumes the second posture on the basis of detection of the medium by the first sensor.

The second holding portion of the second tray moves above the first holding portion of the first tray. The second tray further includes a discharged sheet receiving portion for receiving the sheet discharged by the discharge roller. The second tray including the discharged sheet receiving portion pivots relative to the first tray.
