A machine for printing substrates and a method for printing substrates using the machine, which has a print head, the print head having at least one ejection nozzle for ejecting a product on the substrate; translation device with a movable part, the translation device configured for supporting and translating the substrate by the movable part; positioning device for establishing and fixing a relative position between the substrate and the print head. The machine additionally has guiding device for guiding the movable part; and holding device for fixing the substrate with respect to the movable part; with the substrate being fixed to the movable part and the movable part guided by the guiding device, the substrate can be translated to receive the product being ejected.

An image forming apparatus includes an image forming portion including an image bearing member, a developing device, and an intermediary transfer belt; a feeding device including a feeding belt; an ultraviolet irradiation portion; a cover; a first shielding plate extending in a direction perpendicular to the feeding direction on a feeding surface of the feeding belt from an inner surface of the cover downwardly with respect to the vertical direction and configured to shield the intermediary transfer belt from the ultraviolet radiation toward the intermediary transfer belt; and a second shielding plate provided on the cover and extending downwardly with respect to the vertical direction along an outer surface of the intermediary transfer belt. The second shielding plate is configured to shield the intermediary transfer belt from the ultraviolet radiation toward the intermediary transfer belt.

An image forming apparatus includes an image forming portion including an image bearing member, a developing device, and an intermediary transfer belt; a feeding device including a feeding belt; an ultraviolet irradiation portion; a cover; a first shielding plate extending in a direction perpendicular to the feeding direction on a feeding surface of the feeding belt from an inner surface of the cover downwardly with respect to the vertical direction and configured to shield the intermediary transfer belt from the ultraviolet radiation toward the intermediary transfer belt; and a second shielding plate provided on the cover and extending downwardly with respect to the vertical direction along an outer surface of the intermediary transfer belt. The second shielding plate is configured to shield the intermediary transfer belt from the ultraviolet radiation toward the intermediary transfer belt.

A printing device 11 includes a printing section 16 that performs printing by ejecting a liquid onto a transported medium 99, a support section 21 facing the printing section and having a support surface 22 for supporting the medium, a holding section 26 for holding the medium spanning across from the support section, a heating section 31 that is located downstream of the support section in the transport direction of the medium and that heats the printed medium, and a heat shield section 41 facing the heating section, wherein the heat shield section has a facing surface 43 that faces the heating section and that is separated from the medium extending across from the support section to the holding section, and a protruding section 46 that protrudes from the facing surface toward the heating section at an end portion on a downstream side in the transport direction.

A printing device 11 includes a printing section 16 that performs printing by ejecting a liquid onto a transported medium 99, a support section 21 facing the printing section and having a support surface 22 for supporting the medium, a holding section 26 for holding the medium spanning across from the support section, a heating section 31 that is located downstream of the support section in the transport direction of the medium and that heats the printed medium, and a heat shield section 41 facing the heating section, wherein the heat shield section has a facing surface 43 that faces the heating section and that is separated from the medium extending across from the support section to the holding section, and a protruding section 46 that protrudes from the facing surface toward the heating section at an end portion on a downstream side in the transport direction.

A medium detector includes: a medium sensor to emit light to detect a medium conveyed by a drum in a conveyance direction; a sensor holder to hold the medium sensor; a light shield to shield a part of the light emitted from the medium sensor in the axial direction of the drum orthogonal to the conveyance direction; and a housing: rotatably supporting the drum; and holding the sensor holder and the light shield.

A medium detector includes: a medium sensor to emit light to detect a medium conveyed by a drum in a conveyance direction; a sensor holder to hold the medium sensor; a light shield to shield a part of the light emitted from the medium sensor in the axial direction of the drum orthogonal to the conveyance direction; and a housing: rotatably supporting the drum; and holding the sensor holder and the light shield.

A printing apparatus includes a printing mask, which is disposed between a substrate having a display area and a non-display area surrounding the display area. The apparatus further includes a nozzle discharging an organic light emitting liquid onto the substrate. The printing mask includes a mask open part and a mask cover part. The mask open part exposes the display area, and the mask cover part surrounds the mask open part and covers the non-display area. The apparatus can be used to form an organic emitting layer on the substrate.
