An object of the present invention is to efficiently perform a reading operation for printing position adjustment with high accuracy. A printing apparatus prints, on a print medium, adjustment patterns being for adjusting a printing position on the print medium and corresponding respectively to printing position adjustment items. In this printing, the printing apparatus prints the adjustment patterns while conveying the print medium in a forward direction with a conveying unit. Then, the conveying unit conveys the print medium in a backward direction until the adjustment patterns are moved beyond a reading position of a reading unit in the backward direction. Thereafter, the conveying unit conveys the print medium in the forward direction again to cause the adjustment patterns to reach the reading position. Thereafter, the reading unit reads the adjustment patterns continuously at the reading position while the conveying unit conveys the print medium in the forward direction.

If an inter sheet on a designated feed tray during execution of a print job is lacking, and when a setting received via an operation unit is for a first mode, a control unit switches a feed source from the designated feed tray to another feed tray on which an inter sheet of the same size has been placed and continues the print job, and when the setting is for a second mode, interrupts the print job without switching the feed source from the designated feed tray to another feed tray. In a case where a plurality of feed trays are designated as a feed source, the control unit interrupts the print job without switching the feed source from the feed tray in which the inter sheet is lacking to another feed tray even if the setting is for the first mode.

A recording system includes: a recording apparatus; a post-processing apparatus; and a transport apparatus which transports the medium to which the recording is performed to the post-processing apparatus, and the transport apparatus includes a transport mechanism which transports a medium to which the recording is performed to the post-processing apparatus, and a loading stand which loads the discharged medium without transporting the medium to which the recording is performed to the post-processing apparatus.

Provided is a technique that enables proper sorting of discharged print media by suppressing curling of each of the print media sufficiently. A determining unit determines a curling suppressing operation to be executed such that in a case where sorting operation is executed, the suppressing operation having a higher effect of suppressing curling is executed than in a case where the sorting operation is executed. Then, a print control unit controls a print head to perform printing on print media while executing the suppressing operation determined by the determining unit.

A modular simplex thermal printer that produces full color dye sublimation prints. Two individual modular printer units are stackable so that when the two simplex modular units are combined the lower printer unit can be loaded with duplex thermal receiver media which is printed on one side by the lower unit and then transferred through a slot and print transport path to the upper printer unit where the upper printer unit prints on the other non-printed side of the duplex receiver media.

A medium-transport apparatus includes: an apparatus main body having the transport path for transporting the medium; and a cover CV provided on the side surface of the apparatus main body and configured to be switched between a first state of exposing the transport path and a second state of covering the transport path. The cover CV is divided into: a first cover that has the rotation shaft along a Z-axis and is rotatable with respect to the apparatus main body; and a second cover that is arranged on a Z side of the first cover, has the rotation shaft along a Y-axis on the Z-side, and is rotatable with respect to the apparatus main body.

An intermediate transport device includes: a changing unit that changes a direction of a recording medium received from a pre-processing device to at least one of one direction and another direction with respect to a receiving direction in which the recording medium is received, and delivers the recording medium; and a housing that has a delivery port through which the recording medium delivered to the one direction toward one post-processing device passes, and another delivery port through which the recording medium delivered to the other direction toward another post-processing device passes, and that is disposed at a height similar to a height of the delivery port.

In a printer, a medium transporting apparatus includes a straight path through which a medium on which recording has been performed with the recording head is output, an inversion path through which the recording medium on which recording has been performed with the recording head is output to an output destination different from an output destination of the straight path, a switching member provided downstream of the recording head in a medium transport direction and configured to switch between a first state in which the switching member constitutes a portion of the straight path and a second state in which the switching member constitutes a portion of the inversion path, a motor that drives a pair of transport rollers that transports the medium, and a switching mechanism that switches between a first state and a second state with motive power of the motor.

When the following medium is transported on the first transport path, the preceding medium is transported on the second transport path, and the respective media are disposed at a position of the discharge roller pair at the same time, the discharge roller pair is disposed at the separation position, and the flap is disposed at an advanced position.
