A media processing device includes a platen roller opposing spaced from a printhead to form a nip. The platen roller rotates at a platen speed to pull media from a media roll in a downstream direction along a media path. A media supply spindle configured to support the media roll and to rotate at a payout speed to dispense media from the media roll. A dancer arm includes a roller configured to engage the media along the media path and a sensor detect a position of the dancer arm. A logic circuit receives an output signal from the sensor, determines that the position of the dancer arm has changed based on the signal, and adjusts the payout speed of the media supply spindle.

A printing apparatus includes: a printing unit; a feeding roller that feeds a print medium; a feeding-side movable roller that applies tension to the print medium, in a feeding-side buffer region positioned between the feeding roller and the printing unit; a front drive roller that is positioned between the feeding-side buffer region and the printing unit and with which the print medium is intermittently transported; and a control unit that controls feeding by the feeding roller. Control amounts controlled by the control unit include a feeding amount and a feeding speed of the feeding by the feeding roller. The control unit is configured to execute and switch between a print mode and a continuous transport mode, controls the feeding amount of the feeding roller when the print mode is executed, and controls the feeding speed of the feeding roller when the continuous transport mode is executed.
PAPER DISCHARGE APPARATUS AND PAPER DISCHARGE UNIT
According to one embodiment, a paper discharge apparatus includes a conveyance unit configured to convey paper printed by a printer and discharge the printed paper to an outside, a conveyance stop unit configured to stop the conveyance of the paper by the conveyance unit during printing of the paper, a loop mechanism configured to selectively loop the paper printed while conveyance is stopped from a conveyance path provided upstream of the conveyance unit in a conveyance direction of the paper toward any one of a printing surface side of the paper and a non-printing surface side of the paper, and a paper discharge unit configured to drive the stopped conveyance unit and discharge the looped paper when printing of the paper is completed.
