Media guides for use in printers and methods for using the same
A media guide is provided for use in printer. Media guide includes main body portion having internal bore configured to be disposed around media spindle and guide member connected to main body portion. Guide member is configured to extend outwardly from main body portion to extended position and to retract toward main body portion to collapsed position. Method for using media guide is also provided. Media guide is disposed on media spindle such that media spindle extends through internal bore of main body portion and is positioned and locked at selected position along length of media spindle. When media roll is disposed on media spindle, guide member is extended to extended position. When media roll is configured to be one of loaded onto or unloaded from media spindle, guide member is retracted to collapsed position.
Adjustable path length of print media in a dryer of a printing system
Systems and methods for adjustable path length of print media in a dryer of a printing system. In one embodiment, the dryer includes a drum that applies heat to a web of print media. The dryer also includes first rollers positioned in an arc around the drum to define a path of travel of the web along the arc when the web is between an entrance of the dryer and the drum. The dryer further includes second rollers positioned inside the arc from the first rollers to reverse the path of travel of the web inside the arc when the web is between the drum and an exit of the dryer. A first roller and a second roller transport the web around the drum. A location of the first roller and the second roller relative to the arc defines a length of the web inside the dryer.

Systems and methods for adjustable path length of print media in a dryer of a printing system. In one embodiment, the dryer includes a drum that applies heat to a web of print media. According to an embodiment, a printer includes a damper that moves towards a continuous sheet by a predetermined distance and applies a tensile force to the continuous sheet on a conveying path on which the continuous sheet is conveyed by the feed roller. The printer further includes a limiter that switches a state of the damper between an unlimited state in which a movement distance for the damper is not limited and a limited state in which the movement distance for the damper is limited so that no tensile force is applied to the continuous sheet.

Magnetic media holder for printer
A print media holder device has first and second grip members. Permanent magnets are attached to the first and second grip members. An electromagnet is disposed between the first and second grip members, where when the electromagnet is selectively energized the permanent magnets attached to the first and second grip members are repelled in a manner that increases the outer dimension of the print media holder device to grip a media core.
