There is provided a tape cartridge, in which the cartridge case is provided with an outer protrusion portion received by an outer recess portion, the outer protrusion portion blocks insertion of a third core projection into a core hole of a tape core B around which a tape B, which is different in type from the tape A, is wound and which has a shape different from that of the tape core A, by contact with the tape core B when the tape roll A is mistakenly replaced with a tape roll B included in a tape cartridge B, which is configured to be mounted on a tape printing apparatus, and including the tape B and the tape core B.

A cartridge that makes it possible to simultaneously set a printing tape and a cartridge in a tape printing device. A cartridge to be installed in a tape printing device includes: a cartridge case; a cartridge-side tape introduction port that introduces a printing tape introduced from a device-side tape introduction port into the cartridge case and a cartridge-side tape ejection port that ejects the printing tape to an outside of the cartridge case toward a device-side tape ejection port in a state in which the cartridge is installed in a cartridge installation part; and a tape retention part that retains the printing tape that is introduced in advance into a tape path between the cartridge-side tape introduction port and the cartridge-side tape ejection port before the cartridge is installed in the cartridge installation part.

A cassette includes a printing tape roll being rotatable and into which a printing tape as a medium to be printed is wound, and an outer peripheral wall disposed on one side in a first direction relative to the printing tape roll. The first direction is a width direction of the printing tape. The outer peripheral wall includes a first side wall extending in a second direction orthogonal to the first direction, a second side wall extending in a third direction orthogonal to the first direction and intersecting with the second direction, and a recess wall defining a recess extending from the second side wall toward one side in the second direction. The recess extends in the third direction on one side in the second direction further than the second side wall. At least a portion of the recess overlaps the printing tape roll in the first direction.

A cassette includes: a case including a first layer and a second layer and having a head space at the first layer; and a roll disposed at the second layer and into which a medium to be printed is wound about a rotation axis in a winding direction. The medium to be printed includes a to-be-printed layer and a release layer, and is disposed at the case such that the to-be-printed layer is on an inner side thereof and the release layer is on an outer side thereof in the winding direction. The case has a conveyance path for conveying the medium to be printed. The conveyance path is defined such that the medium to be printed is conveyed in the winding direction from the roll to the head space through an opening defined at a boundary between the first layer and the second layer in the case.

An auxiliary tape cassette includes: an auxiliary tape; and a case. The auxiliary tape is used for printing on a printing tape. The case accommodates therein at least a part of the auxiliary tape. The case has: a discharge opening; and a guide part. The discharge opening discharges the printing tape to an outside. The guide part guides the printing tape supplied from an outside of the case toward the discharge opening. The guide part has a curvature forming member that causes the printing tape to be curved such that a portion in a width direction of the printing tape is distended in a thickness direction by contacting the printing tape.

An auxiliary tape cassette includes: an auxiliary tape; and a case. The auxiliary tape is used for printing on a printing tape. The case accommodates therein at least a part of the auxiliary tape. The case has: a discharge opening; and a guide part. The discharge opening discharges the printing tape to an outside. The guide part guides the printing tape supplied from an outside of the case toward the discharge opening. The guide part has a curvature forming member that causes the printing tape to be curved such that a portion in a width direction of the printing tape is distended in a thickness direction by contacting the printing tape.

A printer includes, a printing portion configured to print on a print medium, a ribbon roll up shaft configured to roll up an ink ribbon used in the printing portion, a ribbon supply shaft provided movably between a first position and a second position with respect to the ribbon roll up shaft, the ribbon supply shaft configured to hold the ink ribbon to be supplied to the printing portion, and a ribbon supply shaft lock mechanism to be brought into a lock state where rotation of the ribbon supply shaft is regulated when the ribbon supply shaft is placed at the first position, and into a non-lock state where the rotation of the ribbon supply shaft is permitted when the ribbon supply shaft is placed at the second position.

A tape drive comprises a spool support for supporting a tape spool, wherein the spool support comprises a support surface mounted to a tape drive base plate such that the support surface is fixed against rotation relative to the base plate, the support surface being configured such that, in use, as tape is removed from or wound onto the spool, the spool rotates relative to the spool support such that the spool rotates around the support surface.

A tape drive comprises a spool support for supporting a tape spool, wherein the spool support comprises a support surface mounted to a tape drive base plate such that the support surface is fixed against rotation relative to the base plate, the support surface being configured such that, in use, as tape is removed from or wound onto the spool, the spool rotates relative to the spool support such that the spool rotates around the support surface.

A cartridge reduces a movement amount of a center of gravity of a cartridge accompanied by the progress of the winding of an ink ribbon. The cartridge to be installed in a tape printing device includes a platen roller, a paying-out core on which an ink ribbon is wound, and a winding core that winds up the ink ribbon paid out from the paying-out core. When seen from a rotational axis direction parallel to a rotational axis of the paying-out core and a rotational axis of the winding core, the paying-out core and the winding core are arranged to at least partially overlap an imaginary line that passes through a center of the platen roller and extends in a longitudinal direction of the cartridge.
