A recording apparatus includes a carriage having a recording head and an ink tank that stores ink to be supplied to the recording head, which are mounted on the carriage, wherein the ink tank has an inlet port provided in an upper part of the ink tank, and a prism provided in a lower part of the ink tank, the recording apparatus includes a sensor located under the carriage and having a light-emitting portion that emits light toward the prism and a light-receiving portion that receives light reflected by the prism, and, when the carriage is located at an ink replenishment position where the ink in the ink tank is replenished via the inlet port, the sensor is disposed at a position hidden by the carriage in plan view of the carriage as viewed from above the carriage.

A plastic card printer that is provided with a printhead guard that is movable between a covering position, where the printhead guard covers one or more sensitive portions of a printhead of the plastic card printer, and a non-covering position, where the printhead guard does not cover the one or more sensitive portions of the printhead thereby allowing the printhead to perform a printing function on a plastic card. The printhead guard can be at the covering position when the printhead is at a non-printing position, for example during servicing of the card printer, to protect the one or more sensitive elements when the printhead is at the non-printing position, and the printhead guard can be at the non-covering position when the printhead is at a printing position where the printhead is ready to perform printing.

A plastic card printer that is provided with a printhead guard that is movable between a covering position, where the printhead guard covers one or more sensitive portions of a printhead of the plastic card printer, and a non-covering position, where the printhead guard does not cover the one or more sensitive portions of the printhead thereby allowing the printhead to perform a printing function on a plastic card. The printhead guard can be at the covering position when the printhead is at a non-printing position, for example during servicing of the card printer, to protect the one or more sensitive elements when the printhead is at the non-printing position, and the printhead guard can be at the non-covering position when the printhead is at a printing position where the printhead is ready to perform printing.

A printing apparatus includes: a housing containing a printing unit therein; a cover openably attached to the housing, the cover forming a discharging opening, through which a sheet is discharged from the housing, while the cover is closed; and a protective wall portion provided inside the cover for preventing a user's fingertip inserted through the discharging opening from proceeding toward the printing unit while the cover is closed.

A user's fingertip is prevented from entering a housing while a cover is closed. A printing apparatus includes: a housing containing a printing unit therein; a cover openably attached to the housing, the cover forming a discharging opening, through which a sheet is discharged from the housing, while the cover is closed; and a protective wall portion provided inside the cover for preventing a user's fingertip inserted through the discharging opening from proceeding toward the printing unit while the cover is closed.

A medium ejection apparatus includes a placement mount on which media are placed, a restriction part that moves between a restriction position at which the restriction part restricts media ejected toward the placement mount and a retracted position retracted from the restriction position, and a processor that controls the restriction part by adjusting a restriction frequency on the basis of at least either an amount of movement of the restriction part from the retracted position to the restriction position or ejection intervals at which the media are ejected toward the placement mount, the restriction frequency being a frequency with which the restriction part performs a restriction operation for the media.

A medium ejection apparatus includes a placement mount on which media are placed, a restriction part that moves between a restriction position at which the restriction part restricts media ejected toward the placement mount and a retracted position retracted from the restriction position, and a processor that controls the restriction part by adjusting a restriction frequency on the basis of at least either an amount of movement of the restriction part from the retracted position to the restriction position or ejection intervals at which the media are ejected toward the placement mount, the restriction frequency being a frequency with which the restriction part performs a restriction operation for the media.

A printer includes a printing portion configured to print on a print medium, a ribbon supply shaft configured to hold an ink ribbon to be supplied to the printing portion, a ribbon roll up shaft configured to roll up the used ink ribbon, a printing unit provided swingably, the printing unit having a thermal head that constitutes the printing portion, and a partition member swingably provided in the printing unit, the partition member partitioning the ink ribbon and the print medium, and the ribbon supply shaft is provided in the partition member.

A printer includes a printing portion configured to print on a print medium, a ribbon supply shaft configured to hold an ink ribbon to be supplied to the printing portion, a ribbon roll up shaft configured to roll up the used ink ribbon, a printing unit provided swingably, the printing unit having a thermal head that constitutes the printing portion, and a partition member swingably provided in the printing unit, the partition member partitioning the ink ribbon and the print medium, and the ribbon supply shaft is provided in the partition member.
