A recording apparatus includes a recording section capable of recording on a medium, a transport belt that is provided with adhesive capable of adhering with the medium and that is capable of transporting the medium, an ultrasonic sensor that transmits ultrasonic waves to the surface of the adhesive and that receives ultrasonic waves reflected from the surface, and a controller capable of determining the state of the surface based on the detection result of the ultrasonic sensor.

A recording device includes a recording unit configured to perform recording on a medium, a transporting belt configured to transport the medium, the transporting belt including a surface on which the medium is able to be supported, a washing unit configured to wash the surface using a liquid, an ultrasonic sensor configured to transmit an ultrasonic wave onto the surface and receive the ultrasonic wave reflected from the surface, and a control unit configured to determine a remaining state of the liquid on the surface based on a result of detection by the ultrasonic sensor, in which the ultrasonic sensor transmits the ultrasonic wave onto at least part of the transporting belt, from downstream of the washing unit to upstream of the recording unit, in a rotation direction of the transporting belt.

A cartridge detachably attachable to an apparatus body of an image forming apparatus that forms an image on a recording medium in which a memory unit is fixed by an inexpensive adhesive member that can control adhesion force. The cartridge includes: a memory; and a memory support member that supports the memory. The memory has a semiconductor device storing information related to a cartridge, a sealing material that protects the semiconductor device, and a cartridge electrical contact configured to be electrically connectable to a body electrical contact of the image forming apparatus body for transferring information on the semiconductor device to the image forming apparatus body. The sealing material and the memory support member contain the same type of a thermoplastic resin, the sealing material and the memory support member have bonding faces, and at least parts of the bonding faces are welded and fixed by a solvent.

A cleaning device includes a separation and contact mechanism that separates a web from a conveyance roller and brings the web into contact with the conveyance roller, and a controller. The controller includes a conveyed sheet number determination unit and a separation and contact control unit. The conveyed sheet number determination unit monitors a conveyed sheet number of both-surface image forming sheets where image forming processing is applied to both a first surface and a second surface with respect to the sheets conveyed by the conveyance roller, and determines whether or not a cumulative value of the conveyed sheet number has reached a predetermined threshold value. The separation and contact control unit controls the separation and contact mechanism so as to allow the web to be pressed to the conveyance roller by a pressing roller when the cumulative value of the conveyed sheet number has reached the threshold value.

A cleaning device includes a separation and contact mechanism that separates a web from a conveyance roller and brings the web into contact with the conveyance roller, and a controller. The controller includes a conveyed sheet number determination unit and a separation and contact control unit. The conveyed sheet number determination unit monitors a conveyed sheet number of both-surface image forming sheets where image forming processing is applied to both a first surface and a second surface with respect to the sheets conveyed by the conveyance roller, and determines whether or not a cumulative value of the conveyed sheet number has reached a predetermined threshold value. The separation and contact control unit controls the separation and contact mechanism so as to allow the web to be pressed to the conveyance roller by a pressing roller when the cumulative value of the conveyed sheet number has reached the threshold value.

In a case where a second page is printed subsequent to a first page, in a case where a predetermined condition concerning recovery operation is met, a control unit in a printing apparatus causes, after completion of printing of the first page and prior to start of the printing of the second page, a recovery unit to perform the recovery operation after causing a cutting unit to cut a printing medium. In a case where the predetermined condition is not met, the control unit causes a printing unit to start the printing of the second page without causing the cutting unit to cut the printing medium after the completion of the printing of the first page.

In a case where a second page is printed subsequent to a first page, in a case where a predetermined condition concerning recovery operation is met, a control unit in a printing apparatus causes, after completion of printing of the first page and prior to start of the printing of the second page, a recovery unit to perform the recovery operation after causing a cutting unit to cut a printing medium. In a case where the predetermined condition is not met, the control unit causes a printing unit to start the printing of the second page without causing the cutting unit to cut the printing medium after the completion of the printing of the first page.

The disclosure concerns a test apparatus comprising a drum (100) configured such that ink drops (200) deposited on the surface of the drum form a printed marking (210) on the surface of the drum. The test apparatus further comprises an ink removal unit (300) configured to remove ink from the surface of the drum. The drum is at least partially transmissive of light and a light source (800) is disposed inside the drum to controllably illuminate the drum.

A paper transmitting device including a feed wheel and a cleaning member is provided. The feed wheel is rotatably disposed for driving a document to move. The cleaning member is disposed on one side of the feed wheel, and has a fabric and porous structure and a woolen friction surface, so that the cleaning member contacts the feed wheel to clean the feed wheel.

A spray coating apparatus is provided, wherein a nozzle is arranged to traverse a fabric in one direction whilst simultaneously spraying and oscillating in another direction. The fabric is spray coated with a first pass having a spray zone having uneven distribution in the direction of oscillation, and particularly with a greater density of fluid coverage toward the centre of the spray zone than an edge. The nozzle forming a second and subsequent pass that is off-set from the first and each subsequent pass respectively. The second and each subsequent pass being arranged to overlap with a portion of the previous pass, thereby providing an improved distribution of the spray coating. Moreover, because the spray coating is incremental, the method is easily adaptable to integrate with an ink jet printing process.
