PRINTER
A printer includes a first holder for an ink ribbon, a first pair of rollers configured to convey the ink ribbon along a conveyance path, a print head configured to press the ink ribbon against a print medium to print an image on the print medium, and a second pair of rollers disposed on a downstream side of the first pair of rollers in the conveyance path and capable of crosscutting the ink ribbon.
PRINTER RIBBON ORIENTATION SYSTEM AND METHOD
The present disclosure is directed to a system for preventing incorrect installation of ribbon material in a printer. The system includes a spindle rotatable in a first direction or a second direction. The spindle is capable of supporting a supply of ribbon material for rotation with the spindle. The system also includes a trigger associated with the spindle. The trigger rotates with the spindle in the first direction or the second direction. The system further includes an actuator adjacent the spindle and configured to detect whether the spindle is rotating in the first direction or the second direction via the trigger.

TAPE CASSETTE INCLUDING TAPE ROLL, RIBBON SPOOL, RIBBON TAKE-UP SPOOL, HOUSING INCLUDING PARTITION PLATE AND ARM, FIRST GEAR, AND SECOND GEAR
A tape cassette includes: a tape roll in which a tape is wound; a ribbon spool about which an ink ribbon is wound; a ribbon take-up spool configured to take up the ink ribbon; a housing having a first opening; a first gear configured to transmit a drive force to the ribbon take-up spool; and a second gear configured to operate in response to an operation of the first gear. The housing includes: a partition plate partitioning an internal space of the housing into a first space in which the tape roll and the ribbon spool are positioned and a second space in which the first gear and the second gear are positioned; and an arm having a second opening allowing the tape and the ink ribbon to be discharged through the second opening to an outside of the housing.

INK RIBBON CARTRIDGE
An ink ribbon cartridge to be mounted on a printing apparatus includes a cartridge case accommodating an ink ribbon and a gear train accommodated in the cartridge case. In a state where the ink ribbon cartridge is mounted on the printing apparatus, a rotation axis of a take-up roll on which the ink ribbon is taken up is different from a rotation axis of a take-up shaft, and the gear train is configured to transmit power of the take-up shaft to the take-up roll.
