The space is defined between the head cover located at the second position and the printer cover. The connecting part is exposed through the space.

A printing apparatus includes: a main body; a cassette including a cassette case and a printing medium accommodated in the cassette case; an installing portion provided on the main body for installing the cassette detachably; a thermal head arranged on a substrate provided in the installing portion and having heating elements arranged along a predetermined arrangement direction; a conveyor which conveys the printing medium of the cassette installed in the installing portion along a conveyance path orthogonal to the arrangement direction; a first temperature sensor provided, in the installing portion, on a side of the thermal head with respect to the conveyance path; a second temperature sensor provided in the interior of the cassette case or the installing portion; and a processor which corrects an amount of applying energy to be applied to the heating elements, based on first and second temperatures detected by the first and second temperature sensors.

A printer includes a thermal head, a connecting part capable of being connected to and disconnected from the thermal head, and a head cover of the thermal head. The head cover moves between a first position and a second position different from the first position to connect and disconnect the thermal head and the connecting part.

The present invention makes it possible to reduce the number of constituent components, and to provide a bobbin body having a smooth surface.
A bobbin for a thermal transfer sheet or an image-receiving sheet includes a cylindrical bobbin body 11, wherein a a gear 12 including a plurality of teeth 13 is formed on one side end of the bobbin body 11. Each tooth 13 of the gear 12 has a parallelogram shape as a whole, when viewed from a lateral side.

THERMAL PRINTER AND METHOD OF CONTROLLING THERMAL PRINTER
It is an object to improve image quality of panoramic printing performed by a thermal printer. The thermal printer includes a joint position calculator and a controller. The joint position calculator specifies, in accordance with a less likelihood index of human visual recognition, a joint position between a plurality of images in panoramic printing including dividing a panoramic image longer than a print size of an ink ribbon into a plurality of images of a size equal to or less than the print size and printing in a plurality of times to join the plurality of images. The controller controls a print medium, the ink ribbon, and a thermal head to cause the plurality of images divided at the joint position to be joined by being heat transferred to a plurality of continuous areas of the print medium by a plurality of unit print areas of the ink ribbon, respectively.
PRINTING APPARATUS AND PRINTING METHOD
A printing apparatus includes a printing unit that performs printing on a medium transported in a transport direction, a heating unit located downstream of the printing unit in the transport direction and configured to heat the medium, and a control unit that executes a printing operation including printing an image on the medium according to a printing instruction inputted. The control unit is configured to, when the printing operation on the medium according to an Nth (N=an integer not smaller than 1) printing instruction is finished, and then a standby operation, including waiting for a start of the printing operation on the medium according to an (N+1)th printing instruction, is performed, continue to transport the medium during the standby operation.
