Forming hidden patterns in porous substrates

The present invention concerns a method for manufacturing patterned porous substrates with hidden color patterns by forming hydrophobic patterns on a hydrophilic surface, wherein structural channels are formed as a pattern in a porous substrate using a hydrophobic printing solution lacking colorant, and wherein a colored area is applied on the rear surface of the porous substrate. Further, the present invention concerns said patterned porous substrate and a method for bringing said pattern into a visible state.

Secure substrate for scratch-off products

In one embodiment, a secure substrate provides a print-ready surface for printing scratch-off products and eliminates the need to print lower security layers for protecting against attempts to view hidden indicia information. In one embodiment, a secure substrate comprises applying microperforations to a dyed substrate that meets a predefined transmission optical density to resist an attempt to reduce the opacity of the dyed substrate by delamination. In another embodiment, a secure substrate comprises applying a lower opacity layer and a lower background layer on a substrate to provide a secure substrate that meets a predefined transmission optical density. In another embodiment, a secure substrate comprises applying a lower opacity layer on a substrate, applying a reflective coating, and applying a lower background layer over the reflective coating to provide a secure substrate that meets a predefined transmission optical density.

A color display fan deck which illustrates paint colors and a method for making the color display fan deck is described. The color display fan deck includes paper blades which has paint applied on each sized paper surface of each side of the blade. A plurality of planar swatch bearing blades is pivotally joined together at one end to form a deck or fan deck of paper blades painted on each side. The method includes sizing and painting a paper web on both sides with a water based paint having selected heat resistant pigments.

ENHANCED SECURITY INSTANT TICKETS VIA HOMOGENEOUS UTILIZATION OF DISPLAY/OVERPRINT/BACKING AND VARIABLE INDICIA
20170209780 · 2017-07-27 ·

A printing method or system for making a security-enhanced scratch-off document and the document so made are disclosed. The security-enhanced document includes a substrate, variable indicia, at least one other printed portion having background noise, and a scratch-off-coating layer applied over the variable indicia to maintain the variable indicia unreadable until the scratch-off-coating is removed by being scratched off. The variable indicia includes ink having a signal-to-noise ratio relative to the background ink noise of the document's at least one other printed portion, such that the variable indicia are unreadable with reference to the at least one other printed portion when the scratch-off-coating remains intact. Additionally, digitally imaging countermeasures to unassisted and assisted mechanical SOC lift are also disclosed. These methods and systems enhance the overall appearance of the ticket as well as potentially reduce the time and setup costs between print runs.

Enhanced Security of Scratch-Off Products Using Homogenous Inks or Dyes
20170209781 · 2017-07-27 ·

In one embodiment, a scratch-off product with enhanced security comprises printing indicia and one or more other layers of the scratch-off product using inks and/or dies having the same or a similar chemical composition as the indicia to protect against attempts to view the hidden indicia without scratching-off the scratch-off coating. Printing the indicia and one or more layers of the scratch-off product using inks having the same or a similar chemical composition substantially reduces and/or eliminates the signal-to-noise ratio of the indicia relative to the other portions of the scratch-off product. In one embodiment, some or all of the layers of the scratch-off product are printed to cover the entirety of the scratch-off product increasing the efficiency of printing scratch-off products.

Covert label

A covert label. A substrate comprises a field of ink. Disposed within the field of ink, is ink that can be preferentially removed according to a preconfigured pattern. The preconfigured pattern comprises information associable with at least one object.

Method of Forming a Lottery Ticket with a Translucent Substrate

A lottery ticket is printed on a substrate sheet material having a front surface with lottery game indicia printed thereon and a removable covering material, typically scratch-off material, covering the lottery game indicia which is removable by a player to expose the game indicia for playing the game and other game information printed on the substrate sheet material where at least part of the substrate sheet material is formed of a translucent synthetic material to enable viewing through the part by the player.

DIGITALLY PRINTED COLOR SWATCHES WITH TEXTURED EFFECT

The present invention provides a method for the production of textured color selection swatches for point of purchase displays of custom blended paints, for color selection guides of dyed or printed textiles or for color selection extruded chips of custom colored plastics using a digital inkjet printer and custom blended inkjet inks based on a set of base inks that can be blended using commercial match prediction software and wherein a textured effect is applied as a component of the color selection aids. The textured effect may be achieved either by printing in three dimensions or printing a pseudo-three dimensional effect.

The present invention includes a unique watercolor paper, the method for producing said watercolor paper, and the method for producing a watercolor painting using said watercolor paper. Resistsa clear resist in the form of a clear varnish; and a metallic resist in the form of gold foilare pre-applied to the watercolor paper as part of the method of manufacture and the process involved. The clear resist is not removed after painting, the foil is applied prior to the clear resist, and neither is allowed to overlap on the watercolor paper. Ideally, both resists interact to form a unified pattern or design.

System and Method of Generating a Custom Greeting Card
20250111419 · 2025-04-03 ·

A system and method of generating a custom greeting card based on user preferences and recipient information is disclosed. The overall process begins by prompting a client account to enter order information for a custom greeting card order with a client computing device. The order information is then relayed to a remote server and the matrix barcode of a selected greeting card is edited with the order information using a barcode terminal. In addition, custom content message is generated based on the order information with the remote server. The custom content message is relayed to a greeting card printer and the barcode terminal. The selected greeting card is verified with the corresponding matrix barcode using the barcode terminal to ensure the correct greeting card is used. Finally, the custom content message is printed on the selected greeting card using the greeting card printer to generate the custom greeting card.
