AQUEOUS INK COMPOSITION, INK SET, PRINTED MATERIAL, AND METHOD OF PRODUCING PRINTED MATERIAL

Provided is an aqueous in ink with which the granularity of an ink coating caused in printing on a less-ink-absorbent or non-ink-absorbent recording medium is reduced while sufficient image fastness is achieved even printing on an ink-absorbent recording medium. The present invention relates to an ague-gas ink composition for use in an inkjet recording method. The aqueous ink composition contains an aqueous medium, a pigment, and a dye, and a combination of the pigment and the dye is a predetermined combination.

INKJET PRINTED ARTICLES AND METHOD OF MAKING

An aqueous composition can be used for pre-treating a substrate prior to inkjet printing to provide a white opaque background for inkjet-printed images. This aqueous composition includes: (a) one or more water-soluble salts of a multivalent metal cation at 5-30 weight %; (b) a nonionic or cationic water-soluble or water-dispersible polymeric binder material at 5-30 weight %; and (c) surface-treated visible light-scattering particles having a D.sub.50 (median) particle size of at least 0.04 μm and up to and including 2 μm in an amount of 5-60 weight % based on the total aqueous composition weight. The pre-treated substrate is useful as an inkjet receiving medium that can be readily inkjet-printed particularly with anionically-stabilized aqueous pigment-based inks.

Water-soluble azo compound or salt thereof, ink and recording medium

A compound represented by formula (1) or a salt thereof, and an ink including the same. In formula (1), each Q independently represents a halogen atom; R.sup.11 and R.sup.12 independently represent an alkyl group substituted by an ionic hydrophilic group; and A.sup.1 represents a C1-C3 alkoxy-substituted alkylamino group ##STR00001##

Pretreatment liquid and ink set

A pretreatment liquid that is used together with an aqueous inkjet ink containing a pigment and water, wherein the pretreatment liquid contains resin microparticles (A), a surfactant (B), a coagulant (C) and water, the surfactant (B) contains a polyoxyalkylene alkyl ether (b-1), and the coagulant (C) contains a polyvalent metal salt and/or a cationic polymer compound and has a water absorptivity at a temperature of 40° C. and a relative humidity of 80% of 75% by mass or less.

Inkjet recording medium

An inkjet recording medium, comprising an ink-receiving layer containing an inorganic pigment, a binder, an inkjet ink-fixing agent comprising a cationic compound, and organic spherical particles disposed on at least one surface of a base paper, wherein the ink-receiving layer further contains a water-soluble metal salt and 5 parts by weight or more to 15 parts by weight or less of polyvinyl alcohol (A) with a polymerization degree of 700 or less and 20 parts by weight or more to 40 parts by weight or less of polyvinyl alcohol (B) with a polymerization degree of 1200 or more as the binder with respect to 100 parts by weight of the ink-receiving layer; and a volume 50% average particle diameter (D50) as measured by a laser diffraction/scattering method of the organic spherical particles is 15.0 μm or more.

IMAGE FORMATION WITH ELECTROSTATIC AND MOLECULAR FIXATION

An image formation device includes a first portion and a second portion. The first portion along a travel path is to receive droplets of color ink particles within a dielectric carrier fluid onto a substrate to form an image. The second portion includes a charge source to emit airborne charges to charge the color ink particles to move, via attraction relative to the substrate, through the carrier fluid to become electrostatically fixed relative to the substrate and to become additionally fixed, in their electrostatically fixed position, via distance-dependent, molecular forces relative to the substrate. The duration of additional fixation via distance-dependent, molecular forces may be at least greater than a duration of the electrostatic fixation.

High speed water-based inks containing alcohol tolerant latexes

Described herein are water-based inks that comprise water, a water miscible solvent having a boiling point of about 56° C. to about 98° C., and a latex. In one aspect, the water miscible solvent comprises about 10 wt % to about 30 wt % of the ink (based on the total weight of the ink). In another aspect, the latex is an alcohol-tolerant latex that exhibits limited or no particle size increase in the presence of alcohol. Further described herein are articles printed with the inks, and methods of printing with the inks.
