METHOD OF MANUFACTURING A SANITISED PAPER ARTICLE
A method of manufacturing a sanitised paper article 202 comprising the steps: supplying a paper sheet 12 having a first surface and a second surface to a flexographic printing apparatus 2 having a first sanitising module 10a, applying a sanitising solution to at least the first surface of the paper sheet 12 using the first sanitising module 10a, and forming an article from the sanitised paper sheet 12.
Thermal transfer ribbon assembly comprising a metal layer and a protective coating layer
A method for introducing a reflective and/or diffractive metallic variable and/or non-variable image to a substrate by use of thermal transfer printing includes simultaneously transferring a defined portion of each of a protective coating layer, a metal layer, and an adhesive layer from a carrier film of a transfer ribbon to the substrate by applying heat to the transfer ribbon. The defined portions of the metal layer and the protective coating layer are adhered to the substrate using the adhesive layer. Subsequent to transferring the protective coating layer, the metal layer, and the adhesive layer, durability is provided to the metal layer by cross-linking the protective coating layer that is over the metal layer by exposing the protective coating layer to a radiation source after the defined portions of the protective coating layer, the metal layer, and the adhesive layer are transferred from the carrier film.
METHOD FOR INK JET DURABILITY AND ADHESION
Systems and techniques for improving ink jet ink durability and adhesion to a substrate. The techniques may include applying a varnish to the surface of the substrate, curing, in an initial curing step, the varnish with an ultraviolet (UV) lamp, and applying a pigmented ink to at least a portion of the substrate. The initial curing step may comprise pinning the varnish with the UV lamp in a low-power state. The techniques may additionally or alternatively include applying a layer of pigmented ink and varnish at substantially the same time, allowing the pigmented ink and varnish to at least partially mix, then pinning or curing the ink/varnish combination.
METHOD AND PRINTING DEVICE FOR INFLUENCING AN OPTICAL PROPERTY OF A VARNISH LAYER TO BE APPLIED ONTO A PRINTED RECORDING MEDIUM
In a method and a printing device for influencing an optical property of a varnish layer to be applied onto a printed recording medium, a coating substance is applied onto the recording medium by digital printing before the printing of at least one color separation of the print image on said recording medium. The quantity of the coating substance applied per area unit may be adjusted depending on the desired optical property of the varnish layer to be applied later.
Digital embossed in register surface
Building panels, especially floor panels, and a method of forming embossed in register surfaces with a digital ink head that applies a curable ink on the panel surface or on an upper side of a foil as a coating and forms an ink matrix that is used to create a cavity in the surface by applying a pressure on the ink matrix.
GERM-REPELLENT BOOK AND FOOD PAPER PACKAGING, AND METHOD OF MANUFACTURE
A germ-repellent paper product contains a paper substrate and a germ-repellent overprint varnish. The germ-repellent overprint varnish contains a varnish and a germ-repellent agent. The germ-repellent overprint varnish is coated onto the paper substrate to form a germ-repellent paper product. A method for manufacturing such a germ-repellent paper product is also provided.
RECYCLABLE PRINTED PACKAGING MATERIALS AND RELATED METHODS
Methods of making recyclable flexible packaging material include steps of printing ink onto a recyclable polymer print film and forming a heat resistant coating on the print film. The coated and printed film can further be laminated to a sealant film of a same or similar recyclable polymer to form a recyclable laminate material suitable for heat sealable pouching applications.
Method and apparatus for producing a decorative surface
A method for producing a decorative surface having different gloss levels preferably comprising the following steps: (C) feeding of a workpiece (1.0), which is coated with at least a first lacquer layer (1.4) to a digital printing station; (D) provision of digital control data for the digital printing station; (E) digital spraying of droplets on partial areas of the first lacquer layer (1.4) on the workpiece (1.0) with an at least partially transparent lacquer in order to apply a second lacquer layer (1.5) on the first lacquer layer (1.4), wherein after curing the second lacquer layer (1.5) has a different gloss level than the first lacquer layer (1.4). Further disclosed is an apparatus for carrying out this method.
Printing apparatus
A printing apparatus includes a transport unit for a printing medium, a head configured to discharge ultraviolet-curable ink, an ultraviolet light irradiation unit disposed downstream of the head, a suction unit provided between the head and the ultraviolet light irradiation unit, and a gap reducing portion disposed in a gap between the head and the suction unit and configured to at least partially close the gap by a first region being in contact with the suction unit and a second region, located upstream of the first region, being in contact with the head. In response to the suction unit suctioning mist while the head discharges ink onto the printing medium to be transported, air flow traveling in a direction opposite to the transport direction is generated in a region where the ultraviolet light irradiation unit and the printing medium oppose each other.
Method of performing foil sleeking after printing for UV inkjet printer
A method of performing foil sleeking after printing for UV inkjet printer is disclosed, which comprises steps of: positioning a workpiece with printed patterns or words; then printing an undercoat layer on areas to be foil-sleeked of the patterns or words, then irradiate the undercoat by a UV lamp with a low irradiation intensity to allow the undercoat layer to form a viscosity; and finally sticking a foil on the undercoat layer.
