Microwave dryer of a print system with modulation of the microwave source using frequency shift keying
Microwave dryer of a print system with modulation of the microwave source using FSK. In one embodiment, a microwave dryer includes a microwave source coupled with a waveguide. The waveguide transports electromagnetic energy to dry wet colorant applied by a printer to print media. The microwave source provides the electromagnetic energy at an operating frequency. The microwave dryer also includes a processor coupled with an FSK modulator that modulates the operating frequency of the microwave source. The processor determines a modulating signal with a modulating frequency based on a period of time for the print media to traverse the waveguide, and applies binary values that represent the number of frequencies to an input of the FSK modulator to cause the FSK modulator to output the series of discrete frequencies over the period of time to vary intensity positions of the electromagnetic energy across the width of the print media.

A three-dimensionally shaped object forming sheet includes: a thermally expansive layer distending at a predetermined temperature or higher; a base laminated on one side thereof with the thermally expansive layer; and a photothermal conversion layer for converting absorbed light to heat, formed on at least one side, wherein the base includes a first base and a second base that are laminated; and the first base has an elasticity that is greater than an elasticity of the second base.
Printing and selective drying
In an example of the disclosure, a print job is received. The print job includes an image to be printed upon a substrate utilizing printheads. The print job is analyzed to determine a set of imaged segments, a set of image-adjacent segments, and a set of remote segments. The print job is printed upon the substrate utilizing a first set of printheads. A cooling liquid is applied to the set of image-adjacent segments of the printed print job utilizing a second set of printheads downstream from the first set of printheads. The printed job is exposed to an array of controllable illumination elements. The array of illumination elements is controlled to apply a drying illumination to the imaged segments and the image-adjacent segments of the printed print job, without providing the drying illumination to the remote segments.
MEDICAL DEVICE SURFACE MADE BY ROLL-TO-ROLL DIGITAL PRINTING, CUTTING, AND PUNCHING
A method for preparing a material for use as a surface of a medical device may include printing, with an ink jet printer and using ink that is curable with ultraviolet light, content onto a surface of material that includes woven ticking fabric laminated with polyurethane. The method may also include curing the ink with the ultraviolet light. The method may also include cutting a section of the material in registration to the content printed on the surface for use in a medical device.
UV dye sublimation decoration of complex-shaped objects
Various of the disclosed embodiments concern printing systems configured to deposit flexible dye sublimation inks onto flexible transfer materials. Together, the flexible ink and transfer material allow images to be transferred onto complex-shaped, i.e. non-planar, surfaces of a substrate. The flexible ink may be, for example, a thermoformable UV dye sublimation ink or a superflexible UV dye sublimation ink. In order to transfer an image onto the substrate, the transfer material is pressed onto the surface of the substrate. The substrate, transfer material, or both are heated to a temperature sufficient to cause the ink to sublimate. During the sublimation process, dye is able to permeate the substrate and form a transferred image. The flexible ink formulation may also include a soluble or solvent-sensitive component. In such embodiments, a solvent can be jetted onto the substrate and/or transfer material to remove residual ink.
