Apparatus for processing sheets and apparatus for forming images provided with the apparatus
The present apparatus includes a placement tray to place sheets to undergo binding processing, and a press bind unit shifting along an end edge of sheets on the placement tray. The press bind unit includes a receiving tooth, and pressing teeth meshing with the receiving tooth to perform press binding on sheets nipped therebetween, and the pressing teeth are provided to shift between a press position for meshing with the receiving tooth, and a retract position spaced apart from the receiving tooth so as to shift the press bind unit along the end edge of sheets with the sheets disposed between the receiving tooth and the pressing teeth. By shifting the pressing teeth to the retract position, it is possible to shift the sheet bind apparatus smoothly along the end edge of a bunch of sheets with the sheets disposed between the receiving tooth and the pressing teeth.

Sewing of book blocks without blind stitch
A solution is proposed for sewing blocks of signatures in a bookbinding sewing machine. A corresponding method comprises, for each block of signatures, bringing a portion of each sewing thread through a corresponding free loop (by moving obliquely and then along an advancement direction of the blocks of signatures), blocking, cutting and pulling the sewing thread for tightening the free loop around the sewing thread being cut. A further aspect provides a corresponding sewing station. A further aspect provides a bookbinding sewing machine comprising this sewing station.

Method and apparatus for the thread-stitching
A method and an apparatus for the thread-stitching of folded signatures, for which individual folded signatures which are successively lined up along their flat sides are sewn together with at least one sewing needle and at least one hook needle to form a book block. Prior to penetrating the fold of the signature to be sewn from the inside to the outside and before penetrating the eyelet of the previously sewn signature, the hook needle is rotated in such a way around its longitudinal axis that its hook is positioned in a vertical symmetry axis of the eyelet, on a side of the hook needle that faces the previously sewn signature. The hook needle can be rotated for this at an optional angle () around its longitudinal axis and the hook can be positioned at an optional rotational position.

Printing apparatus capable of conveying sheets to sheet processing apparatus, method of controlling the same, and storage medium
A printing apparatus capable of producing a product having the optimum image layout dependent on a discharge destination even when saddle-stitching is canceled due to input of image data for sheets in excess of a limit of a saddle-stitchable number of sheets. The number of output sheets per one copy is calculated based on image data. When the number of output sheets per one copy exceeds a saddle-stitchable number of sheets, it is selected whether to perform the center folding processing on the sheets on which images are printed without performing the saddle stitching processing thereon or to perform neither the saddle stitching processing nor the center folding processing on the sheets on which images are printed.

SEWN STACK OF ABSORBENT SHEETS
The invention provides a stack comprising a plurality of absorbent sheets stacked in facing arrangement. The stack is bound along its top edge by at least one line of stitches comprising a plurality of spaced apart stitch holes and a thread disposed therein. Individual sheets further comprise a line of perforations comprising a plurality of spaced apart perforation holes. The line of stitches and the line of perforations are such that there is generally a one-to-one numerical correspondence amongst at least a majority of the plurality of stitch holes and perforation holes.
