PAPER FEED AND BIASING SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR STAPLER UNIT
A finisher assembly of a multifunction peripheral includes a vertically oriented stapler and a paper transport motor. When the paper transport motor rotates in the forward direction, printed pages from the print engine of the multifunction peripheral are received via a paper chute and a feed assist roller urges the printed pages into a vertical paper accumulation cache basin. Rotation of the paper transport motor also opens a biasing plate allowing the pages to freely enter the cache basin. Once all of the pages of the print job are in the cache basin, the paper transport motor rotates in the reverse direction causing the biasing plate to bias the printed pages, in the cache basin, against a registration surface of the vertically oriented stapler unit. The pages of the print job are stapled together the stapled print job is moved to the paper tray for collection by a user.
System and method for positioning printed products in operative connection with a delivery system
A system, preferably a saddle stitcher, includes: a transport chain, which is roof-shaped in an upper region, along which one or more printed products is astride transportable, collected, and are optionally stapled in an intermediate stapling station; and a stop adjustable according to a format of a printed product of the printed products, the stop being arranged in a transport direction of the printed product, behind the stapling station, and along a further course of the transport chain. The stop is in operative connection with a delivery system and an ejector that operate interdependently with each other to perform a format-stabilized discharge of the printed product in accordance with a cycle; and that the format-stabilized printed product is fed to a cutting apparatus.

Image forming device that selects feeding mode according to type of insertion sheet
A control unit of an image forming device determines a remaining amount threshold value and selects a first mode or a second mode. In the first mode, a sheet feeding unit of the image forming device starts feeding a sheet based on presence/absence of an insertion sheet that is to be inserted by an inserter device immediately prior to a sheet fed from the sheet feeding unit. In the second mode, the sheet feeding unit starts feeding a sheet regardless of presence/absence of an insertion sheet that is to be inserted by the inserter device immediately prior to a sheet fed from the sheet feeding unit.

Sheet processing apparatus and image forming system comprising the same
Disclosed herein is a sheet-binding apparatus. The apparatus has two sheet binding units, each configured to bind the sheets manually inserted from outside. The sheet binding units operate independently, each at the timing appropriate for a specific need.

Sheet binding processing apparatus and image forming system having the same
A sheet binding processing apparatus includes a transport section transporting a bunch of sheets in a transport direction, a sheet discharge outlet to discharge the bunch of sheets transported from the transport section, a placement section to place the bunch of sheets discharged from the discharge outlet, a manual set section enabling a bunch of sheets inserted in a direction different from the transport direction to be set, a press member pressing the bunch of sheets placed on the placement section or on the manual set section to bind, a drive section applying a pressing force to the press member, and a control section controlling the drive section to make the pressing force applied to a binding member higher in the case of binding the bunch of sheets placed on the placement section than in the case of binding the bunch of sheets set from the manual set section.
SHEET BINDING DEVICE AND IMAGE FORMING APPARATUS
A sheet binding device includes a first binding unit that performs a first binding process of binding a sheet bundle having a first thickness or less without using a staple, and a second binding unit that performs a second binding process of binding the sheet bundle having a second thickness or less exceeding the first thickness using a staple, the first binding process by the first binding device is preferentially executed when the thickness of the sheet bundle is the first thickness or less, and the second binding process by the second binding unit is executed when the thickness of the sheet bundle exceeds the first thickness and is equal to or less than the second thickness.
