Sheet post-processing apparatus

A post-processing apparatus according to an embodiment includes an adhesive binding unit that binds a plurality of sheets into a bundle. A controller sets an allowable binding number X of sheets capable of being subject to binding at one time in the adhesive binding apparatus. The controller sets a predetermined remaining number N of sheets. The controller receives a number A of the sheets instructed to be bound in the adhesive binding unit. The controller calculates a remaining number n of sheets, where n=AX. The controller determines whether n>N or nN. The adhesive binding unit binds the A number of the sheets into a single bundle when it is determined that nN.

SHEET BINDING APPARATUS AND IMAGE FORMING APPARATUS HAVING THE SAME

A sheet binding apparatus includes a stack portion on which sheets are stacked; a manual setting portion, different from the stack portion, to which sheets are manually set from an outside of the apparatus; a first binding portion binding sheets stacked on the stack portion and set on the manual setting portion, the first binding portion being movable to a first position where sheets on the stack portion are bound and to a second position, different from the first position where sheets set on the manual setting portion are bound; and a second binding portion binding sheets stacked on the stack portion, the second binding portion being different from the first binding portion. The first position is set, with respect to a moving direction of the first binding portion, between the second position and a third position where the second binding portion binds sheets stacked on the stack portion.

Selectively controlling the pasting area of each sheet in a sheet binding device

In accordance with one embodiment, a sheet binding apparatus comprises a pasting section and a control section. The pasting section is capable of selectively carrying out pasting processing on at least one of a plurality of different given pasting target areas on sheets to be pasted. The control section controls the execution of the pasting processing based on the pasting section so that pasting target areas of a first sheet and a second sheet other than the first sheet within a plurality of sheets to be subjected to binding processing are different.

BOOK BINDING MISMATCH DETECTION SYSTEM AND METHOD

A mismatch detection system comprising a book block assembly line, a plurality of book block sensors, a case cover assembly line, and an infeed sorter. The book block assembly line may be operable to output conforming book blocks and divert nonconforming book blocks. The plurality of book block sensors may be operable to detect a unique identifier (UID) of the nonconforming book blocks diverted by the book block assembly line. The case cover assembly line may be operable to output case covers. The infeed sorter may be operable to receive the conforming book blocks and the case covers, group one book block and once case cover into a pair, detect whether the conforming book block and case cover of the pair match, divert any of the case covers that do not match, and output a matching pair to a book binding device.

A binding device includes a sheet-bundle forming unit; a binding unit that executes a series of operation including inserting a wire into a sheet bundle and bending the wire; a power supply unit; a detector that detects a first timing for transitioning from bending operation to recovery operation; a first timekeeper that measures time from a start point of the series of operation to a first time point, which is an end of a scheduled first-timing detection period; a unit-of-processing manager; and a supply power controller. When the first time point is reached before detection of the first timing, the controller causes the power supply unit to adjust the electric power before the first timing is reached, such that the first timing is detected before the first time point in the series of operation for a second bundle belonging to the same unit of processing as a first bundle.
