When the number of sheets to be bonded by the adhesive-binding unit applying the adhesive onto the sheets exceeds a predetermined number, the adhesive is applied at two positions separated from each other across the folding position.

The tools are attached spaced-apart to a tool carrier which can be moved to two operating positions in which respectively one of the tools can be made to engage with a counter tool on a rotating cutting drum.

The multi-clamp binding apparatus includes a rotatable body, a plurality of fixed operation stations associated with the rotatable body, and a plurality of clamps coupled to the rotatable body. Each of the clamps may retain at least one workpiece. The rotatable body may rotate each of the plurality of clamps to one or more of the plurality of fixed operation stations. In operation, a book block is received at an in-feed location of the perfect binding apparatus. The book block is stored within a holding apparatus of the perfect binding apparatus. The book block is then rotated between a plurality of fixed operation stations. At least one operation is performed upon the book block at each of the plurality of fixed operation stations.
Method and machine for producing adhesive-bound printed products
A method for production of adhesive-bound printed products in a machine belonging to an adhesive-binder line. To change over from one job under production to a following job, supplied printed products of the following job are detected via a barcode and stopped prior to being fed into the machine of the adhesive-binder line. Remaining printed products of a preceding job are moved and fully processed through individual processing stations of the machine while the printed products of the following job remain in a waiting position in front of the machine. After completing the last printed product of the preceding job, an empty withdrawal of covers stored in a cover deposit and belonging to the following job is initiated until it is ensured that the stored covers are available for the printed products of the following job. After determining that a withdrawn cover securely matches the printed products of the following job, stopped printed products of the following job are released with a main control and fed into the machine for being processed via the individual processing stations.

The present invention provides a hot melt adhesive composition for bookbinding comprising a base polymer, a wax and/or an oil, a tackifier, a stabilizer and optionally a filler; wherein the base polymer comprises a propylene-based elastomer, an amorphous poly--olefin (APAO), and optionally, an ethylene-based or propylene-based plastomer.
END PAPER ARRANGEMENT AND METHOD FOR FORMING THE FRONT AND BACK END PAPER OF A BOOK
An end paper arrangement and method for forming the front and back end paper of a book wherein the end paper arrangement comprises an inner sheet and outer sheet which are fastened on one side against each other over at least one area so that an unfastened area remains between the fastened areas. The unfastened area forms a tunnel for the spine of the book. On that side of the inner sheet which is opposite to the fastened side there is an adhesive surface on both edge parts, and there is an adhesive-free area between the adhesive surfaces. On the side of the outer sheet which is opposite to the fastened side, there is an adhesive surface on both edge parts, and there is an adhesive-free area between the adhesive surfaces. The method performs the assembly set forth in the arrangement.
ADHESIVE BINDER
The invention relates to an adhesive binder with a machine frame, a plurality of processing stations that are attached to the machine frame, at least two transport clamps for transporting book blocks, at least one closed guide track for the transport clamps, and at least one device for changing the overhang of the book blocks. To realize a technology-required change in the overhang in an easy and secure manner, the at least one device for changing the overhang of the book blocks is arranged in such a way as to operate jointly with a lower edge of at least one of the transport clamps, so that the lower edge can be positioned in several first planes of the adhesive binder, which extend parallel to the at least one closed guide track.

Method for binding a bundle (5) of sheets (1), whereby an edge (2) of the bundle (5) of sheets (1) is bound, whereby use is made of sheets (1) in which a strip (4) of each of the sheets (1) is double folded separately beforehand along the same line to form a fold line (3) parallel to and at a distance (A) from the aforementioned edge (2). If paper with a density of less than 120 grams per square meter is used for the sheet (1), after having been double folded the strip (4) is folded at least once more along the aforementioned fold line (3).
