Bookbinding apparatus with sheet inserter
An aligning unit stores a paper bundle that is formed by inserting a medium that is different from printed body text paper sheets conveyed from a printer into the printed body text paper sheets. A manual paper feeding unit stores a medium that is manually fed. A conveyance control unit makes the medium be conveyed from the manual paper feeding unit to the aligning unit after the body text paper sheets that include a page specified by a print job are stored in the aligning unit and before the body text paper sheet conveyed from the printer immediately afterwards is stored in the aligning unit.

Photograph album
A photograph album (10) with a square spine comprises a cover (12) having a first sheet (17), a second sheet (18), and a central square spine (19) which connects the first sheet (17) to the second sheet, and a plurality of pages (13, 14, 15) bound reciprocally in correspondence to a first side (16a) to define a book body (11), characterized in that the last of said pages (14) is partly connected to the internal surface of said second sheet (18), having a first surface portion (21) solidly associated to the internal surface of said second sheet (18), to define the only connection between said cover (12) and said book body (11), and a second surface portion (22) free and not connected to the internal surface of said second sheet (18), said first surface portion (21) being a part of the last of said pages (14) disposed in proximity to a second side (16b) of said last page (14), opposite said first side (16a).

Case cover binding apparatus
A system for automated book binding may include a staging platform configured to receive book covers, with first and second walls extending perpendicular to the staging platform, the first wall oriented parallel to the second wall. A controller, in at least an automatic trim adjustment mode, determines one or more book covers as being present upon the staging platform, automatically directs inward movement of at least one of the walls until sensing contact by one or more of the at least one of the walls with the one or more book covers, automatically withdraws the at least one of the walls from a point of contact with the book covers, wherein an operating window is defined by a distance between the walls at the point of contact, and, in sequence, transferring each of the book covers via a lifting arm upward from the staging platform and to a binding unit.

BOOK BINDING MISMATCH DETECTION SYSTEM AND METHOD
A mismatch detection system comprising a book block assembly line, a plurality of book block sensors, a case cover assembly line, and an infeed sorter. The book block assembly line may be operable to output conforming book blocks and divert nonconforming book blocks. The plurality of book block sensors may be operable to detect a unique identifier (UID) of the nonconforming book blocks diverted by the book block assembly line. The case cover assembly line may be operable to output case covers. The infeed sorter may be operable to receive the conforming book blocks and the case covers, group one book block and once case cover into a pair, detect whether the conforming book block and case cover of the pair match, divert any of the case covers that do not match, and output a matching pair to a book binding device.

AUTOMATED BOOK ASSEMBLY SYSTEM AND METHOD
A high-speed automated assembly system for printed products, especially suited, for example, for printing books on demand. More particularly, at least one robotic processing station, and separate book assembly processing sub-stations, replace a standard bindery equipment in order to improve system flexibility, speed and efficiency.
