Method and machine for producing adhesive-bound printed products

A method for production of adhesive-bound printed products in a machine belonging to an adhesive-binder line. To change over from one job under production to a following job, supplied printed products of the following job are detected via a barcode and stopped prior to being fed into the machine of the adhesive-binder line. Remaining printed products of a preceding job are moved and fully processed through individual processing stations of the machine while the printed products of the following job remain in a waiting position in front of the machine. After completing the last printed product of the preceding job, an empty withdrawal of covers stored in a cover deposit and belonging to the following job is initiated until it is ensured that the stored covers are available for the printed products of the following job. After determining that a withdrawn cover securely matches the printed products of the following job, stopped printed products of the following job are released with a main control and fed into the machine for being processed via the individual processing stations.

A notebook is formed by folding up zigzag a continuous web form for every unit form with rouletted fold lines to form a text unit including a preset number of unit forms. After cutting off one folded side to leave the other folded side, the text unit is sandwiched between a front cover and a back cover and is covered with a spine. The spine is pressed against the remaining the other folded side of the text unit together with the front cover and the back cover by the medium of a mesh cloth impregnated with an adhesive so as to cover and wrap the whole a back of the stack of the front cover, the text unit and the back cover. The notebook can be used in a completely spread state (180-degree horizontal state) and conveniently, and retains high security and high functionality. A process for producing the notebook.

Bookbinding machine with stop of transport elements at a processing station while transport elements are disengaged at other processing stations

A bookbinding machine (100) is proposed. The bookbinding machine (100) comprises a driving system (225) for driving transport elements (210a-210c) of book blocks (215a-215c) in succession across at least one engagement processing station 5 (205d) and one or more disengagement processing stations (205a,205e) which process the book blocks while stationary therein. Control means (120) stop the driving system (225) when each of the transport elements (210b) is at the engagement processing station (205d) engaged with the driving system (225) and other transport elements (210a,210c) are at the disengagement processing stations (205a,205e) disengaged from the driving system (225). A bookbinding plant comprising one or more of these bookbinding machines (100) is also proposed. Moreover, a corresponding method for operating a bookbinding machine (100), a computer program and a computer program product for implementing the method are proposed.
