A brochure is made by folding a single sheet of paper along a plurality of parallel longitudinal fold lines to make an interim piece. The interim piece is conveyed in the direction of the longitudinal fold lines, and folded in a right-angle direction transverse to the first direction, along transverse fold lines perpendicular to the longitudinal fold lines. A pouch is placed inside of the interim piece without adhesive, as the interim piece is folded, and the interim piece is sealed to complete the brochure. The pouch is preferably placed over one of the transverse fold lines. A label can be applied to the brochure if desired.

Based on this information the system then presents a form for the giver to select from a list of problems experienced by said intended recipient. The giver is then given an opportunity to select additional passages from the bible or other sacred texts to be highlighted. A personalized message with sections highlighted which related to an intended recipients age and problems. This message can be a bound volume produced by the steps of feeding lightweight paper through a printer, printing using an inkjet technique or other relatively thinly deposited ink to print on said paper to result in producing printed paper, and binding said printed paper into a volume. The inventive combination may incorporate lightweight or ordinary paper in one volume of a scriptural or underlying religious text (such as the Holy Bible, the Torah, or the Qur'an) and a biographical text detailing the triumphs and hardships of the life of either a celebrated public figure or an extraordinary but seemingly every-day character. By cross-referencing these two texts, and packaging them in a single volume form where they can easily be flipped between, the teachings of a particular religious faith can be made more readily accessible to the public at large.

A mechanism that makes it possible to output a saddle-stitched brochure in a correct page order when a post-processing apparatus that executes a saddle-stitching process by switching back a sheet is caused to execute the saddle-stitching process. Sheets discharged from a printing apparatus are switched back by reverse rotation of a conveying roller pair, and are conveyed into a conveying path for a saddle-stitch bookbinding process. The sheets are accumulated in an accumulation tray for the saddle-stitch bookbinding process. When the saddle-stitch bookbinding process is caused to be executed on the accumulated sheets by the post-processing apparatus, the order of image formation is decided such that the order of pages of images printed on the saddle-stitched sheets becomes correct. The images are printed on the sheets in the decided order of image formation.

A paper feeding apparatus 20 includes a feeding part 21 which feeds a recorded paper one sheet by one sheet, a feeding control part 22 which controls the feeding part 21 based on the book binding information, and a paper feeding apparatus side book binding information setting part 23 which sets the book binding information. The book binding apparatus 10 and the paper feeding apparatus 20 can be communicated with each other. Based on the book binding information set in the book binding apparatus side book binding information setting part 13 or the paper feeding apparatus side book binding information setting part 23, the recorded paper is fed from the paper feeding apparatus 20 to the book binding apparatus 10 one sheet by one sheet and the recorded papers are bundled and bound by the book binding apparatus 10.

A post-processing apparatus for performing post-processing on a sheet having an image formed thereon, the post-processing at least including case bookbinding by using paste, the apparatus including: a paste applicator having a paste application member and configured to supply paste to coat a back of a sheet bundle with the paste; a pressurization member for pressing a cover onto the back of the sheet bundle with the paste coated thereon; and a controller configured to receive information relating to a cover gutter setting on the sheet bundle and to perform control over the paste applicator and the pressurization member, the controller being configured to cause, in a guttered cover setting, the paste to overflow in a larger amount from the back of the sheet bundle toward a gutter than an amount of overflow in a non-guttered cover setting based on the information relating to the cover gutter setting.
