Distributed parallel processing system for make-on-demand book manufacturing
A bookmaking system includes sets of redundant cover printers and book block printers and a binder (or set of binders) for binding a printed cover page, printed by an assigned one of the set of redundant cover printers, and a corresponding set of printed pages for a book block, printed by an assigned one of the set of redundant book block printers, together to form a book. A transport mechanism connects the redundant printers and redundant cover printers with the binder. An assigned one of a plurality of book block buffers, intermediate the book block printers and the binders, stores the set of printed pages until the corresponding printed cover page is ready for binding; and/or an assigned one of a plurality of cover buffers, intermediate the cover printers and the binders, stores the printed cover page until binding can be performed.
A MACHINE FOR PROCESSING SHEETS FOR BINDING THE SHEETS TO FORM A BOOK AND A METHOD THEREOF
A machine for processing sheets for binding the sheets to form a book and a method of manufacturing is provided. The machine includes, a first receiver and a second receiver to receive to receive a main sheet (101) and an auxiliary sheet (103) respectively. The machine further includes a disposer to dispose an adhesive strip (105) to couple the main sheet (101) and the auxiliary sheet (103) and to form a gutter (107) between the main sheet (101) and the auxiliary sheet (103). The distance (g1, g2) between the main sheet 101 and the auxiliary sheet (103) is a gutter-size (g1,g2). The machine further provides an adjuster to adjust relative position of the main sheet (101) and the auxiliary sheet (103) and any one or both of the gutter-size (g1,g2) and width (x1, x2) of the auxiliary sheet (103) based on the position of the main sheet (100) in the book. The first receiver and the second receiver positions the auxiliary sheet (103) adjacent to a first edge of the main sheet (101) and the first edge is proximal to a biding edge of the book.

Recording medium post-processing device
A recording medium post-processing device includes a binding unit and a hole forming unit. The binding unit performs a binding process on a recording medium bundle. The hole forming unit performs a hole forming process in a region of recording media that constitute the recording medium bundle including a part of a binding region in which the binding process is performed.

Paper sheet processing apparatus
A paper sheet S is intermittently transported by a transport mechanism 6 and each processing unit 7, 8 operates while the transport mechanism pauses the transport operation. An information acquisition unit 9 obtains paper information from the paper sheet. A control unit 10 stores the paper information of the paper sheet to be processed for each processing unit, updates the data of the memory in a manner such that the paper information of the paper sheet associated with the previous processing unit is associated with the next processing unit every time the transport mechanism transports, and configures the settings of each processing unit for the next processing operation based on the paper information every time the processing operation of the processing unit is completed.

Booklet and method of forming same
A booklet includes a cover including an integrally formed front cover sheet and a rear cover sheet connected by a hinge fold around which the front cover sheet is pivoted relative to the rear cover between a closed position and an open position, and at least first and second leaves therein. Each leaf includes at least one integrally formed leaf sheet and spine sheet connected together at a hinge fold. Upon pivoting the front cover sheet between a closed position and an open position, the interior leaves move relative to the front cover sheet and a step display tab area on each interior leaf is progressively revealed. A method of forming the booklet is also disclosed.
