DYNAMIC CHANGE OF GANG RUN
A method operates a facility, which serves for the continuous production of multiple gang runs for forming individual signatures or signature packs from which type-specific print products are made in a downstream print further processing machine. An endless web is the basis for the formation of these multiple gang runs. The endless web, in the non-folded state, is imparted complementary handling by facility-internal means according to the following criteria: i) in a 2-gang run, the individual signatures or the folded signature packs are only deflected in a second longitudinal air folding station disposed downstream of the first longitudinal air folding station; and ii) in a 3 or 4-gang run, the individual signatures or the folded signature packs are additionally folded in a second longitudinal air folding station disposed downstream of the first longitudinal air folding station.

Book block forming apparatus
A first press unit 2 presses each of a plurality of signatures S along a fold f, the signatures being supplied one at a time with the fold facing forward. The unit is arranged a signature conveyance unit 3 that conveys each signature received from the first press unit while controlling the attitude to make the fold orthogonal to the conveyance direction. The unit is arranged a gluing unit 4 that applies glue to both lateral edges of a top surface of each signature received from the signature conveyance unit. The unit is arranged an accumulation unit 5 that sequentially stacks the signatures received from the gluing unit on one another while jogging the stacked signatures to form a book block B. The unit is arranged a second press unit 6 that discharges the book block received from the accumulation unit after pressing the same along the folds.

NOTEBOOK AND MANUFACTURING METHOD THEREFOR
A notebook is formed by folding up zigzag a continuous web form for every unit form with rouletted fold lines to form a text unit including a preset number of unit forms. After cutting off one folded side to leave the other folded side, the text unit is sandwiched between a front cover and a back cover and is covered with a spine. The spine is pressed against the remaining the other folded side of the text unit together with the front cover and the back cover by the medium of a mesh cloth impregnated with an adhesive so as to cover and wrap the whole a back of the stack of the front cover, the text unit and the back cover. The notebook can be used in a completely spread state (180-degree horizontal state) and conveniently, and retains high security and high functionality. A process for producing the notebook.
Method for producing printed products with integrated cover
The invention is directed to a method for producing printed products, in particular softcover books, with integrated cover, where method includes at least the steps: printing of paper web or individually supplied paper sheets, preferably by means of digital printing; single or multiple folding and cutting of paper web to form signatures or else single or multiple folding of paper sheets to form signatures; stacking of signatures to form signature stack with at least one top and one bottom signature; folding open top sheet of top signature or else bottom sheet of bottom signature and applying an adhesive layer in at least area of folded-open sheet, which is intended to include at least spine and/or an area of signature stack adjacent to spine; and turning over sheet folded open and provided with adhesive layer around spine of signature stack, so that cover for printed product is formed.

Saddle stitch books and methods of producing the same
Systems and methods are disclosed to produce a books in which interior staples are hidden. One disclosed example apparatus includes a sensor to detect a position of a book being produced on a binding line. The example book includes signatures coupled by a fastener. The fastener separates a first signature portion from a second signature portion of a first signature. The example apparatus also includes an adhesive dispenser to dispense adhesive to at least one of on or adjacent the fastener to couple the first signature portion and the second signature portion along a first fold adjacent the fastener. The example apparatus also includes a controller to cause the adhesive dispenser to dispense adhesive based on the position of the book detected by the sensor.
