Creation of a transparent window in a security substrate for security printing applications
There is described a method of creating a transparent window (W*) in a security, especially paper, substrate (1) for security printing applications, the method comprising the steps of (i) providing a security substrate (1), (ii) forming an opening (10*) into and through the security substrate (1), and (iii) filling the opening (10*) with transparent material (2) thereby forming the transparent window (W*). The filling of the opening (10*) with the transparent material (2) is carried out in a state where the opening (10*) is open on both sides of the security substrate (1) and extends through the security substrate (1), the filling of the opening (10*) including the application of a first side (I) of the security substrate (1) against a supporting surface (21A) of a supporting member (20, 21) in such a way as to block one side of the opening (10*), while the transparent material (2) is applied inside the opening (10*) from the other side (II) of the security substrate (1). Advantageously, the method further comprises the step of forming a field of lenses (L) on one side of the transparent window (W*), in particular by replicating the field of lenses (L) directly into the transparent material (2) filling the opening (10*). Also described is a suitable device designed to fill the opening (10*) with the transparent material (2).
Mass-Producible, Forgery-Proof Marking, Particularly A Forgery-Proof Label, Method For Mass Production Of Such A Marking, And Method For Identifying Such A Marking
The application relates to a forgery-proof object, particularly a forgery-proof label having, applied to a first main surface of the object, a multicolored imprint of at least two coloring compounds each of which comprises a different color and which, in a random manner, both at least partially run into one another and are smudged or blown together. The coloring compounds are preferably in the form of pigment droplets, and said running and smudging is brought about by a corresponding air nozzle which acts on the coloring compounds applied to the object, before they dry.
Method of manufacturing pattern and apparatus therefor
A method of manufacturing a pattern on a substrate web includes providing a production tool having a surface relief structure of elevations and depressions. The elevations correspond to a desired pattern. A curable material is applied to the elevations. The material is brought into contact with a substrate web at a first location. The substrate web and surface relief structure are transported together in contact from the first location to a second location spaced from one another along the transport direction of the substrate web. The substrate web is separated from the surface relief structure at the second location whereupon the material forming the pattern is affixed to and carried by the substrate web. The material is cured by exposure to a curing energy source, either between the first and second locations and/or after the substrate web has been separated from the surface relief structure at the second location.

DISPLAY MEDIUM FOR ASSESSMENT AND METHOD FOR MANUFACTURING SAME
A display medium including a display layer for authenticity identification, wherein the display layer contains a droplet-cured product, and the droplet-cured product contains a resin having cholesteric regularity. The droplet-cured product preferably contains a cured product of a liquid crystal material containing a cholesteric liquid crystal compound. The display layer is preferably a cured product of a coating material containing the droplet-cured product. The display layer may contain plural types of droplet-cured products exhibiting different color tones as the droplet-cured product. The display layer may further contain a metal particle.

Security document with security feature
A security element for a security document comprises a first, second, third and fourth line grid which contrasts with the substrate surface, each of said grid being associated with a pattern comprising an embossed structure of the substrate. A first, second, third and fourth pattern angle differ from one another. A first security information item is coded as a first localized distribution of the first and second pattern, a second security information item is coded as a localized distribution of the third and the fourth pattern. The first and the second security information items overlap one another in the process. By disposing the first and second pattern in first grid cells and by disposing the third and fourth pattern in second grid cells and by arranging the first and second grid cells in alternating fashion, specific intensity distributions occur in different viewing directions of the security document, the intensity distributions being useful for examining the authenticity of the document.
