A barrel assembly according to an embodiment includes one barrel having an annular engaging projection; and another barrel having an engaging projection that protrudes toward the annular engaging projection of the one barrel, wherein the engaging projection of the other barrel has an engaging edge that protrudes in a direction of engagement, the engaging edge further has a protruding molded part that further protrudes from the engaging edge in the direction of engagement, and the protruding molded part of the engaging edge of the other barrel engages with the annular engaging projection of the one barrel.

A writing instrument having a writing part, having a writing tip, and having a protective cap which protects, the writing tip and is releasably connectable to the writing part. For the releasable connection between the cap and writing part, the writing part has several connecting structures, each with a connecting region which is curved in an ellipsoidal, ball-shaped manner, such as balls or semi-spheres, and the cap has an internal thread on the inside. A novel method for making decorative structures, specifically for use as writing instruments composed of a novel material composition that scatters and reflects light to exhibit a particular visual effect, i.e. a glitter effect. The composition is made of one or a combination of a number of different resins combined with a mica dust and/or a diamond dust. The resin is an organic compound and in composed partially or entirely from epoxide, polyester and/or polyurethane. Other additives can be added to the resin to enhance the visual effect including ground glass and dyes or pigments.
